N. Korea has deployed 50,000 special forces along frontlines: source

SEOUL, May 5 (Yonhap) -- North Korea has recently deployed about 50,000 special forces along its border with South Korea, a source here said Wednesday, as tension rises on the divided peninsula over a suspected deadly North Korean attack on a South Korean warship.

"North Korea recently completed the frontline deployment of seven light infantry divisions, which is something it had been pushing for since two to three years ago," the high-level source said, adding each division consists of about 7,000 troops.

North Korea has in recent years increased the number of its special forces to 180,000. Defense officials here say the troops would infiltrate South Korea and try to throw its defense into confusion if another war broke between the two countries.

The frontline deployment of special forces comes as South Korean increasingly suspects a North Korean submarine sank one of its warships along their tense western sea border on March 26.

The name sounds lame, but these are the elite force.

And if NK was, in fact, involved in the Gulf incident, then the message would be... “Stay out of the way, or else.”

If you have nearly 200,000 of them, you have to eventually come to terms with the fact that they’re not special.

If there are 50,000 of them, they aren’t special forces — at least in the sense of US forces.

Maybe the troops who actually get to train and have a decent diet with more grain and less sawdust in their bread.

Tell it to the Marines!

What they mean by “special” is, IMHO, that they are not trained to do conventional warfare. They go behind lines, destroy key targets, and create chaos. Infiltrate into S. Korea wearing S. Korean military uniforms. Or do massive terrorist operation.

Lots of luck with that. The two Koreas have been separated for so long now, that a distinct difference in their dialects has developed.

Unless the North Koreans have been drilling precise South Korean pronunciation, they'll be easily spotted.

Is it over the edge to say:” Nuke the Gook”?

Oh. I thought by “special” they meant, the ones who have eaten within the last few days.

Carter got a Nobel prize for getting our DMZ Marines with backpack nukes removed. They were present to prevent the north from overrunning the south.

In the battle, soldiers are not always at shouting distance. This is a big problem if these NK soldiers are dressed in plain clothes or S. Korean military uniforms.

But that's not what the article talks about. The claim is that the North Koreans have trained to steal into South Korea and cause disruption and chaos by posing as South Koreans.

I'm saying that they just might not fool the locals.

Please pray for our troops in SK—their bases are well known, and might well be one of the first targets if NK does make a move.

Fool people just long enough to do their tasks.
When people realized that they are not locals which won’t be long, it may be too late.

Have they done this before Tiger? Doesn’t sound good especially with Kim out of town.
