I’ve heard him talk about this trial a few times and I still don’t have a good idea of what it’s about. Can someone paint the broad strokes for me?

If Bobby Big Byrd comes, can he substitute his Klan robes for judicial robes?

Rev. James Manning believes he has proof that Obama didn't attend Columbia University and instead worked for the CIA under President Reagan helping the freedom fighters in Afghanistan. He plans to make this information public at a trial in his Harlem Church. Manning believes the 10th Amendment gives his trial legitimacy, and he expects law enforcement will have no choice but to arrest Obama and the president of Columbia University should they be found guilty.

Manning issued subpoenas to several people, including Condoleezza Rice and Rod Blagojevich, and will have any of them arrested if they fail to show up.

During the trial, as many as 30,000 are expected to march around the Columbia Campus, as Joshua marched to the city of Jericho. They will wear masks of the people who were issued subpoenas but didn't show up, and will be wearing hooded robes to symbolize something or other.

Are these the same "freedom fighters" (Mujahadeen) for which Osama bin Ladin was also allegedly working?

OBL was late to the party.

Many of those "Freedom Fighters" were part of the Northern Alliance, beside whom we fought to push the Taliban out of power, where they remain. They aren't shooting women in the head in the soccer stadium these days. Many of them are curiously missing various body parts, which they don't really miss all that much, being dead.

OBL supported the "fundamentalist" types who spent more time fighting the others than the Soviets.

Rev. Manning and Andy Martin are competing to fill the void left by the apparent abdication of Orly Taitz as CEO of Birther inc.

Andy Martin, while claiming not to be a birther, went to Hawaii to investigate the birth certificate of Barack Obama.

Rev. Manning, clearly unwilling to concede to an upstart, has escalated the competition by putting on Birthapalooza. The festivities will include: Obama as a CIA agent show trial, a Condoleezza Rice and Rod Blagojevich costume contest (Winner gets a Pulitzer Prize), a dramatic reading of the transcript of the Kenyan Minister claiming Obama was born there, a DIY Birth Certificate Booth, an Anti-Birther Dunk Tank and a Honorary American Grand Jury Lead Prosecutor Law License raffle.

...and donkey rides for the kids...

How about simple, elegant and classic clown costumes? With the big floppy shoes, by all means, if they are going to march.

Dr. Manning says he expects 30,000 to attend the trial and march.

I predict there will be a lot less.

His video posts about the trial don't seem to get many YouTube views. This seems to trouble him, because he made a video accusing YouTube of manipulating the view counts. Also, for an event that is supposed to have the whole world watching, there's almost zero coverage, either in the mainstream media (which is to be expected) or among conservative bloggers.

The guy is pretty crazy, but I don't want him to be embarrassed when nobody shows up for the trial. I'd go if it were in Chicago. How about a change of venue?

I'm going to predict about 29,986 less (and half those remaining will be curious bystanders).

Well, it is quite possible Manning could generate the largest birther rally ever.

First, he'd have to top the massive crowds that showed up to the steps of the Supreme Court in December, '08 in a show of support of "citizen attorney" Leo Donofrio:

After that, there was Orly Taitz and her legion of followers crowding New York's Times Square in a November '09 attempt to shut down Fox News (If you squint, you can sorta see them in a small, fenced-in area):

So Manning only needs maybe 16 people and I think he'd hold the record for largest demonstration ever demanding proof of Obama's eligibility. There might even be enough Condi Rice masks!

I’ve heard him talk about this trial a few times and I still don’t have a good idea of what it’s about.

Basically, he's going to pretend he's a judge, and get a couple people to pretet they are lawyers, and they are going to pretend to hold a trial in his basement.

The "judge" will make a "ruling" that Obama's not eligible, which will be ignored by everyone except the kooks in his basement and the tinfoil hat wearers on the blogoshpere.

That photo in New York was definitely not taken in Times Square. It looks more like 6th Avenue (otherwise known as "Avenue of the Americas") near Rockefeller center.

I think that's also where Fox News is located, but I moved out of NY a few years ago, so I don't remember for sure.

Indeed, I stand corrected. I think I had "Times Square" on my mind when I posted the photo.
