So this guy was open carrying and they are trying to charge him with unlicensed concealed carry after he stopped a robbery?
I guess this is job security...make a criminal out of the lawful cuz they weren’t able to stop the robbers themselves.

Seems to me that OPD and the City of Omaha need the SNOT sued out of them for denying the permit without just cause.

Why does he need a permit to buy a new gun? Also, couldn’t someone just sell him a gun, not through an FFL?

The police took away his gun. Then they refused to allow him to buy a new gun. And, the State Patrol has said that he will never be allowed a concealed carry permit now that he has been ticketed for carrying concealed without a permit.
You don’t need a permit to carry - concealed or otherwise.
Well, you do, but it reads: “The Right of The People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
And it’s not really a permit - just recognition of reality.
So the local media are full of photos and videos of the hero (thereby facilitating any revenge attempts by the deceased’s “homies”) but nary a photo of the late, unlamented Marquail Tyrill Deshane Thomas.

Article failed to mention that the two perps, one of whom had the sawed off shotgun, wore masks.
The mother of the deceased perp was gracious enough to forgive the shooter/hero.
