May 2--Lawmakers are preparing to contest at least two vetoes issued last week by Gov. Brad Henry, who had only one veto overridden during his first six years in office.
The Republican-controlled Legislature last week overrode two vetoes issued by the Democratic governor. Legislators tried one veto override attempt last year, but were unsuccessful.
Part of the explanation for the increase in challenges is an increasing number of Republicans in the Legislature since Henry was elected in 2002.

This week, attempts are likely to override two gubernatorial vetoes. Sen. Randy Brogdon said he will attempt an override of the veto of Senate Bill 1685, which would exempt guns or ammunition made in Oklahoma from federal regulations.
The governor said the measure would present safety concerns to residents and law enforcement officers alike.
The Legislature easily passed the measure. The Senate passed it 39-3. The House approved it 81-14.
Because it had a clause that makes the measure take effect immediately upon becoming law, it will take a three-fourths vote of members in each chamber to override the veto, or 76 votes in the House and 36 votes in the Senate.
"I think we have good solid support," said Brogdon, R-Owasso. "I'm hoping they don't play politics and they stand up for the Second Amendment rights. I think that there are plenty of them on both sides of the aisle that will do that."
Rep. Paul Wesselhoft said he will seek an override of the veto of his measure, House Bill 2569.
It would prohibit the use of radio frequency identification tags on a driver's license or identification card.
The bill also requires three-fourths approval. It passed the House 76-13 and was approved in the Senate 41-7.

What 'benefits' might tracking of private citizens provide?
Yes he is, and definitely so for Okies ... the ole dork ... :-)
Ummm..., that’s a nut-website .... LOL ... Alex Jones is not held in too high regard around here ... :-) (at least not by some of the sane people ...)...
I look forward to “golly gee whiz” being replaced in November. Hopefully Brogdon will be governor.
I stopped at “Alex Jones” ... which meant I didn’t get too far ... LOL ...
While I’m against the idea in general, a part of me would LOVE to have a way to track my former DIL, in case she ever “forgets” to bring our grandson back to his father.

Best range I've ever been at! Wish I lived in Tulsa, OK - even if the State's 'gubernator' is a complete jack@ss!
You knock him down, you freedom-loving Sooners!
Best regards...

Give her a present of a family cell phone with the tracking feature turned on.
How diabolically clever! I’ll have to find some excuse she’ll believe I want to give her a present. :-)
If you’re going to pay the monthlies on it, tell her you never want her to be unable to reach your son should there be some emergency involving the grandchild. She might buy that.
