A naturalized American citizen from Pakistan arrested overnight in the Times Square bombing investigation will appear in a Manhattan federal courtroom Tuesday morning to face formal charges in the case.
Faisal Shahzad, 30, was on board an Emirates Airlines plane at JFK International Airport when he was taken into custody, law enforcement officials said. A law enforcement official told CNN Shahzad's final destination was Pakistan.
Authorities removed three passengers from the Dubai-bound flight late Monday, according to a spokesman for the airline, but two were allowed back on board, officials said.
Shahzad was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Monday, Attorney General Eric Holder said early Tuesday from Washington.
A federal law enforcement source said Shahzad nearly made it out of the country.
"They just caught him at the last second," according to the source, who said Shahzad was on board the flight to Dubai and the jetway had been pulled back when the plane was called to return to the gate.

Interesting because this morning it was said they allowed him to board and the plane pull out of the gate because they were watching for accomplices.

The Feds were onto him and following him. They let him pay for his ticket and proceed to the boarding gate and board the plane. The boarding ramp was removed and then put back so the Feds could board and arrest him. They let it go this far on purpose to see if he made contact with any co-conspirators.
Right, it’s always best to let a violent suspect burrow himself among scores of innocent civilians before trying to apprehend him. Does Obama think we’re all that big a bunch of idiots? Well, yes, of course he does. After all, we elected him our first Black Muslim Marxist president.
