Sarah Palin is one of the most intriguing (and polarizing) personalities to emerge on the national political stage in a long time. The way that many conservatives embrace her and many liberals vilify her illustrates in microcosm the yawning political divide in America today.
We can draw insights about Palin's significance in America today from a trio of three markedly disparate historical figures: Ronald Reagan, the late Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises, and the Gospel of Matthew's King Herod. The connection between Sarah Palin and Ronald Reagan is fairly simple and straightforward. They share conservative convictions and a special gift of communication. Palin is reminiscent of Reagan in the way she resonates, inspires, and energizes conservatives.
Less apparent are the links that may be drawn between Palin and the long-departed Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises -- and Palin and the much-longer-ago-departed King Herod.
The connection between Palin and Mises occurred to me while rereading Mises' 1944 book Bureaucracy. Mises wrote, "...the educated strata are more gullible than the less educated. The most enthusiastic supporters of Marxism, Nazism, and Fascism were the intellectuals, not the boors." Indeed, Marx, Lenin, et al., were intellectuals, and the leaders of socialism have been relatively well-to-do educated folks like Bill Ayers, not salt-of-the-earth blue-collar folks.

As I told little Bobby J, the article didn’t compare Sarah with Christ, rather it compared King Herod to the Machivellian Left. Herod ordered the babies in the Bethelem area murdered because he felt that Christ was a threat to him, while the Left is trying to destroy Sarah because they feel that she is a threat or potential threat to them.
How usual, BOBJ purposely lying about Palin, or anything related.

To: Bob J
I love Palins conservatism and patriotism! She may very well support McCain out of loyalty and I have no problem with that. And I have no problem with whom she supports with her PAC. There is nothing written that says she has to do everything (or anything at all) according to JIM.
Sarah is unabashedly pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-family, pro-America, pro-constitution, pro-gun, pro-limited government and so am I. And shes wildly popular among the God-loving, Liberty-loving folks with whom I choose to associate. In short, shes a refreshing breath of clean fresh air in an otherwise putrid failure of a RINO infested party.
She represents my interests better than any other viable wannabe at this point and if she decides to run, she will have my undivided support!! Romney, the draft-dodging, Big Government, lying statist political whore can KMA!! And your picture does say a 1,000 words, but Bob, unfortunately theyre all about YOU and political whores like you and the results and likely outcome of your slavish, cultish RINOism!!
So you can shove your picture and your RINOs where the sun dont shine.
Sarah has more guts, talent, ability, patriotism, and sheer determination and love for America and our God-given Liberty than you and Romney and a thousand other RINOS will ever have!
Its been more than obvious for several years that our pro-Life & Liberty Free Republic has become an embarrassment for you, so why the hell dont you just take a fricken hike already!!
Shove it, pal.
GET THE HELL OFF FR if you dont like it, but whatever you do quit your damn whining and pestering good conservative FReepers about your hatred for Sarah Palin!!
Its beyond sickening.

No politician is worthy of idolatry.
The author compares Herod, who felt that Christ was a threat to him, to the Left, who feel that Palin is a threat or potential threat to them. It’s quite plausible to infer a Christ to Palin comparison here.

That you cannot admit the intent of this comparison is a perfect example of the absolute blindness of devout Palin worshippers...and the danger they might represent by leading us down the wrong path.
I admit it’s possible that there may be a “Sarah=Christ” comparison. And if there is, it’s rather unfortunate. In fact, I don’t think that Sarah herself would want it. Such comparisons would only do disservice to the Conservative cause and yes Sarah herself.
AOK. Listen, every time some well meaning Palin fan makes a comparison like this she loses 100 votes. If people come to that conclusion let them do it on their own. Pushing it in their face only invites skeptisism and blow back.
I don’t reply to that guy. He is a troll here for his daily feeding.
Bob J is not a troll. He's contributed to the success of Free Republic more than any of us here on this thread. I know. I met him in person at a FReeper event years ago.
He trolls the Palin threads and posts serial replies to posters. He has nothing constructive to say. Ergo, I ignore him.
As far as contributing to the success of FR, wasn’t he banned not long ago?

Bob J is an notorious and mischievous liar.
Now you now why I call them the “Rubber Room Crowd”. It fits oh so perfectly.
And what path would that be?
He rarely uses "serial replies."
He has nothing constructive to say. Ergo, I ignore him.
If constructive means frothing hero worship, you're right.
As far as contributing to the success of FR, wasnt he banned not long ago?
In the past, Bob contributed a lot of time and energy to support FR. He has recently been suspended three times. JMO, none of those suspensions were justified.
He's one of the most honest people here.
Sarah Palin. Just saying that name at social events amuses me by separating the “men from the boys” in conversation.
Hehe, that's exactly what my BIL said about Al Gore.
BwaHaHa.
Dang, I forgot to ping you to post 99
