CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - A University of Virginia men's lacrosse player was charged Monday with first-degree murder in the death of a women's lacrosse player. George Huguely, 22, of Chevy Chase, Md., was charged in the death of Yeardley Love, 22, of Cockeysville, Md., Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo said. Both were seniors.
Longo said Love's roommate called police around 2:15 a.m. concerned that Love may have had an alcohol overdose, but police found her dead with obvious physical injuries to her body.
"It was quickly apparent to them that this young lady was the victim of something far worse," Longo said.

Whatever was annoying him...he couldn’t just walk away and never talk to her again?
His haircut, or lack thereof, speaks volumes. And, yes, I am an old fogey.
I feel so sorry for the young woman’s parents and family. May God comfort them.
Sad lacrosse story :( from UVa.
“Whatever was annoying him...he couldnt just walk away and never talk to her again?”
He evidently wanted to make sure he got in the last word. May God comfort this poor young woman’s family.
You pay that much and you get used to getting your way.
Ditto. For those who don't know UVa has the #1 ranked team heading into the NCAA Championships which begin on May 15.

Georgie, meet your new roommate, Bruno, he likes young athletic guys, he really gets turned on chasing someone around a cell, and don’t scream too loud, he has a way of dealing with loud people.
Guy should have just hired a stripper and then he’d still be on the team... Oh... nevermind...
His haircut, or lack thereof, speaks volumes. And, yes, I am an old fogey.

LOL. My hair was down to the middle of my back while I was in college, and I never killed anyone. Of course, I didn’t play lacrosse, I played the guitar.

Here’s an article written in 2006 with George Huguely’s comments on the Duke case
If the Duke case taught us anything, it’s to wait until all the facts are in. I have no idea if the ex-boyfriend is guilty or not (he may well be guilty); and the fact that his attorney hasn’t been out there screaming that he’s not guilty, doesn’t bode well for the possibility of his innocence.
But stranger things have happened (remember the Duke case).
Time enough to draw moral conclusions later after all the facts are known.
Also, being rich, or from an exclusive school, doesn’t mean a thing with regards to having a propensity to murder someone.
A lot of poor uneducated people murder each other too (in fact, I think, in greater numbers...)
I suspect this was a violation of the UVA Honor System...
From the linked article, this quote by the suspect’s father:
Although Bordley said he constantly cautions the team about the dangers of alcohol in the wake of the incident — the Duke players have admitted underage drinking occurred at the party — such warnings have taken on new relevance. Huguely’s father, George, Sr. said yesterday that he’s had discussions with his son, who will play at University of Virginia next season, about staying out of situations that could be costly.
“Regardless of what winds up happening, you have to learn from this experience and take what you can from it,” George Huguely Sr. said. “You always have to remember and can’t let yourself be in a situation where something like this could happen.”
Talk about irony. If only he’d listened to his dad.
Graduation can be a stressful time. Lots of long-term couples break up around graduation, which can lead to conflict.
Not saying that is what happened here, but it is not that unusual.
None of my classmates murdered each other due to final exams, graduation, or anything similar at college.

My 9 year old has long hair, think David Cassidy only shaggier. My dad (who is an old fogey) is constantly on my case about his hair - but he is a straight A student and good kid. He’s never killed anyone either.
