BP to cover 'appropriate' oil spill costs in Gulf of Mexico
The Daily Telegraph ^ | May 3, 2010 | Correspondents in Washington and London

ENERGY giant BP says it will pay "all necessary and appropriate clean-up costs'' from the US oil pollution disaster.

"BP takes responsibility for responding to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. We will clean it up,'' a company statement said.

The news comes after Barack Obama said BP was clearly responsible for the spill and must pay to clean it up.

Oil from beneath a rig which exploded and overturned in the Gulf of Mexico has formed a huge slick now coming ashore on the US Gulf coast. The cost has been estimated at several billion dollars.

A ship works on containing the oil on the surface of the water in the Gulf of Mexico.

A satellite photo provided by NASA shows the oil slick to the right of the The Mississippi Delta.

Workers load oil booms onto a crew boat to help contain the oil.

Can you imagine the extent of the damage? BP must be hit in the hip pocket very hard to finance this massive clean-up operation of the worst oil spill since Exxon Valdez.

Remember the Exxon Valdez, FRiends!

So, when the North Korean torpedo story is verified, no charges against BP will be appropriate.

Makes it sound like they're only doing so because emperor Obozo commanded it.

Amounts that are big, but unnoticeable.

Saw a snippet of Obummer talking about this spill as if he knew what he was talking about...hahaha...We all know he has no experience in this field but has only memorized a few vital sentences to make him sound good for sound bytes.

I would have loved to see some questions about his idea of fixing this spill. He would have been up a tree real soon.

He is a bigger phony than Bill Clinton.

Now I'm not in engineering, nor do I play one on TV, but can't we somehow cap or contain this darn oil well break?

Fer chrissakes, we can send someone to the moon, can't we contain this leak in less than 90 days?

Build a big funnel, turn it upside down, put it on vacuum, and put it over the busted pipe. Problem solved.

It won't work? You got a better idea? Let us look at 'em, at least consider them. If it is such a big deal, why can't we get it solved? What happened to American ingenuity? Come on America....

Because in the middle of a disaster, the most important thing is to tell the people fixing it that they have to be extremely cost-conscious.

Just like I guess with our medical care, where Obama wants doctors and hospitals to closely monitor the costs when they are administering life-saving treatment.

OK guys tear me apart if you wish but I want to know the truth.

A grim report circulating in the Kremlin today written by Russia’sNorthern Fleet is reporting that the United States has ordered a completemedia blackout over North Korea’s torpedoing of the giant DeepwaterHorizon oil platform owned by the World’s largest offshore drillingcontractor Transoceanthat was built and financed by South Korea’s HyundaiHeavy Industries Co. Ltd, that has caused great loss of life, untoldbillions in economic damage to the South Korean economy, and anenvironmental catastrophe to the United States. Most important to understand about this latest attack by North Koreaagainst its South Korean enemy is that under the existing “laws of war” itwas a permissible action as they remain in a state of war against eachother due to South Korea’s refusal to sign the 1953 Armistice ending theKorean War. To the attack itself, these reports continue, the North Korean”cargo vessel” Dai Hog Dan believed to be staffed by 17th Sniper Corps”suicide” troops left Cuba’s Empresa Terminales Mambisas de La Habana(Port of Havana) on April 18th whereupon it “severely deviated” from itsintended course for Venezuela’s Puerto Cabello bringing it to within 209kilometers (130 miles) of the Deepwater Horizon oil platform which waslocated 80 kilometers (50 miles) off the coast of the US State ofLouisiana where it launched an SSC Sang-o Class Mini Submarine (Yugoclass ) estimated to have an operational range of 321 kilometers (200miles).On the night of April 20th the North Korean Mini Submarine manned by these”suicidal” 17th Sniper Corps soldiers attacked the Deepwater Horizon withwhat are believed to be 2 incendiary torpedoes causing a massive explosionand resulting in 11 workers on this giant oil rig being killed outright.Barely 48 hours later, on April 22nd , this North Korean Mini Submarinecommitted its final atrocity by exploding itself directly beneath theDeepwater Horizon causing this $1 Billion oil rig to sink beneath the seasand marking 2010’s celebration of Earth Day with one of the largestenvironmental catastrophes our World has ever seen.To the reason for North Korea attacking the Deepwater Horizon, thesereports say, was to present US President Obama with an “impossibledilemma” prior to the opening of the United Nations Review Conference ofthe Parties to the Treat on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)set to begin May 3rd in New York. This “impossible dilemma” facing Obamais indeed real as the decision he is faced with is either to allow thecontinuation of this massive oil leak catastrophe to continue for months,or immediately stop it by the only known and proven means possible, thedetonation of a thermonuclear device. Russian Navy atomic experts in thesereports state that should Obama choose the “nuclear option” the mostviable weapon at his disposal is the United States B83 (Mk-83) strategicthermonuclear bomb having a variable yield (Low Kiloton Range to 1,200Kilotons) which with its 12 foot length and 18 inch diameter, and weighingjust over 2,400 pounds, is readily able to be deployed and detonated by aremote controlled mini-sub. Should Obama choose the “nuclear option” itappears that he would be supported by the International Court of Justicewho on July 8, 1996 issued an advisory opinion on the use of nuclearweapons stating that they could not conclude definitively on these weaponsuse in “extreme circumstances” or “self defense”. On the other hand, ifObama chooses the “nuclear option” it would leave the UN’s nuclearconference in shambles with every Nation in the World having oil rigs offtheir coasts demanding an equal right to atomic weapons to protect theirenvironment from catastrophes too, including Iran.To whatever decision Obama makes it remains a fact that with each passinghour this environmental catastrophe grows worse. And even though Obama hasordered military SWAT teams to protect other oil rigs in the Gulf ofMexico from any further attack, and further ordered that all drilling inthe Gulf of Mexico be immediately stopped, this massive oil spill hasalready reached the shores of America and with high waves and more badweather forecast the likelihood of it being stopped from destroyingthousands of miles of US coastland and wildlife appears unstoppable. Andnot just to the environmental catastrophe that is unfolding the onlydevastation to be wrecked upon the United States and South Korea by thisNorth Korean attack as the economic liabilities associated with thisdisaster are estimated by these Russian reports to be between $500 Billionto $1.5 Trillion, and which only a declaration of this disaster being an”act of war” would free some the World’s largest corporations frombankruptcy. Important to note too in all of these events was that this wasthe second attack by North Korea on its South Korean enemy, and US ally,in a month as we had reported on in our March 28th report titled “ObamaOrders ‘Immediate Stand-down’ After Deadly North Korean Attack” and whichto date neither the Americans or South Korea have retaliated for andgiving one senior North Korean party leader the courage to openly statethat the North Korean military took “gratifying revenge” on South Korea. And for those believing that things couldn’t get worse, they couldn’t bemore mistaken as new reports coming from Japanese military sources arestating that North Korea is preparing for new launches of its 1,300kilometer (807 miles) intermediate range ballistic “Rodong” missile whichRussian Space Forces experts state is able to “deploy and detonate” anatomic electromagnetic pulse (EMP) device, and which if detonated high inthe atmosphere could effectively destroy the American economy for years,if not decades, to come.?

I’ve had several friends suggest the funnel. It certainly sounds like a solution. I wonder how much junk is down there from the platform sinking - probably not much as the chance of the platform sinking down on the well head were slim due to currents?
