A failed car bomb smoked, popped and shut down Times Square, causing panic, evacuations and confusion Saturday on one of the tourist spot's busiest nights. Most of the streets in the area were reopened Sunday morning, though a heavy police presence remained in the area.
New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said officers are heading to a town in Pennsylvania to talk to a man who believes he may have recorded a bombing suspect on his video camera. Police are looking a for a white male in his 40s who was seen shedding a dark shirt with a red shirt underneath, he said at an afternoon press conference. Investigators are now looking through "hundreds of hours of surveillance videos," Mr. Kelly added.

On Sunday afternoon, a law enforcement official speaking on condition of anonymity said the Nissan Pathfinder had been traced back to Texas, where it had been recorded as scrapped. Mr Kelly, at an afternoon press conference, said that the vehicle was not reported stolen.
Cash for Clunkers? The vehicle didn't appear to be heavily damaged in a way that you might normally expect a car to have a scrapped title.
Well maybe this can just be called a ‘prank’ ...
And the SUV was parked in front of the Viacom building. Viacom of course owns Comedy Central which got intimidated into censoring a recent South Park episode into removing any visual or auditory references to Muhammad.

1500 hundred quatloos we won’t see a picture/description of the guy nor his religious affiliation...just be on the lookout for a “guy”.
In a white van.
Yes, it does sound like cash for clunkers. You can’t get a salvage title, - well in theory you can’t, but we have the liar’s affidavit here in TX - but you have what was it? how many thousand clunkers turned in for the 4000.00 credit in TX alone?
Fantastic opportunity to get an untraceable vehicle for a crime.
I’m sure there’s no connection.
We must all be on the lookout for 2 white males driving a white van, most likely veterans of the US military.
/Chief Moose bit my sister
With a red shirt on.
**Well maybe this can just be called a prank ...**
We can also call it a SUCCESSFUL TERRORIST ATTACK.
Placed the bomb successfully, Detonated it correctly... LUCKILY... the bomb itself FAILED... the rest was quite successful.
Bonus points for using “quatloos” in a FR post.
[what are the odds of *that*?]....;]
A white van with a “Palin In 2012” bumper sticker and a dancing Jesus on the dashboard.
2000 quatloos we won’t even hear if a suspect is captured
More than likely there was some damage to the vehicle, which was totaled by the insurance company as being cheaper to total than repair. At that point, it would have a salvage title - which many take to be as a vehicle that has been scrapped. You can buy vehicles with salvage titles.
How long will it take Janet to find the muzzies who did this, quietly whisk them away to sanctuary in one of our newly created “allies”, and to quickly pin this on some rotten, good-for-nothing anti-government type somewhere in the heartland?
Fox mentioned that 2009 saw more terrorist threats, attempts and attacks than 2001-2008, combined.
Hmmm.
What’s changed?
And “Lifetime NRA Member” and “Every Abortion Stops A Beating Heart” stickers.
I was making a sarcastic statement - that defense lawyer at the trial of the kid accused of hacking Palin’s email account was just calling it a prank ... not the illegal accessing ...and that’s the way I think the media will play it out when they discover the guy who did it was a Democrat/Liberal/activist ....
