Job Cuts at ABC Leave Workers Stunned and Downcast (LOL!)

If “Good Morning America” or “World News” look any different in the coming weeks, it might be because ABC News is employing nearly 400 fewer people.

David Westin, president of ABC News, said this was “a difficult time for everybody” involved.

Brian Rooney, an ABC reporter in Los Angeles, was let go. Earlier this week, ABC News, a unit of the Walt Disney Company, largely completed one of the most drastic rounds of budget cutbacks at a television news operation in decades, affecting roughly a quarter of the staff. The cutbacks promise to change ABC both on- and off-camera.

For some employees, like the longtime Los Angeles correspondent Brian Rooney, Friday was their last day. Mr. Rooney said his contract expired at “exactly the moment when they needed to shed an enormous amount from the payroll.” In an e-mail message, he compared it to “standing looking straight up when the bomb dropped.”

I posted a vanity last week (I was visiting Phoenix on Friday when the mob of hispanics threw bottles, rocks and trash at police escorting a lone white guy out of the scene because he said he agreed with the legislation just passed, and it was all over the news...except that...oh wait, it wasn't.

I was appalled, and I dwelled on this for a few days...this was my reflection on how I viewed the coverage of the riot and the national state of affairs:

Bu-bu-but, ABC's been telling us for months that the economy is improving because of Obama's Stimulus. You know...the "recovery". They're always talking about it.

I've actually come to think of them as the most fair of the lot. Jake Tapper asked Zero and his sock puppets quite a few embarrassing questions. Compared to NBC's David "Gregory" he is the HL Menken of the 21st century.
