The United States has determined that the United Arab Emirates could repel any Iranian air campaign. A report on a conference sponsored by U.S. Central Command asserted that the UAE Air Force was powerful enough to counter any Iranian attack. The January 2010 conference, also sponsored by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, said the UAE has accumulated an advanced combat air fleet that could strike Iran.
"In addition, Gulf aircraft such as the Mirage-2000, F-15, and F-16 are all capable of threatening Iranian targets, and the UAE Air Force is deemed quite capable of holding its own against Iran," the report, titled "The Perfect Handshake With Iran," said.
The report, released on April 9, said the UAE has been cooperating with the five other Gulf Cooperation Council states to enhance regional security. Missile defense was said to have comprised a major element in the effort to repel any Iranian ballistic missile strike.
"Missile defenses have been boosted across the region, however, with several countries deploying Patriot PAC-3 batteries and the UAE acquiring a Theater High Altitude Area Defense system," the report, authored by Patrick Clawson, said.
The conference of U.S. officers and strategists asserted that Washington has developed working relations with GCC militaries. But those relations could be hampered by a suspicious ruling elite that fears Iranian retaliation.

yes, but will they?
Sounds like B.S. to me.
Gen Petraeus made this comment a while back, but we have to wonder if Iran will send (or threaten to send) hundreds of missiles raining down on small Abu Dhabi and Dubai. On the positive side, Shia vs Sunni is like Arab vs Jews.
Yes, if they feel that their ability to extract and export oil is threatened.
Their F-16's may be the most advanced in the world.
The Brits have been working with them for years
The catch is; just like Obummer, our dear leader, THEY will not do violence to a fellow-muslim. Obummer wants the terrorist trials to be held in CIVIL court so the HE would not have to sign a death warrent on a fellow raghead, should any of them receive that penalty. IMHO.
The problem for so many years with most arab air forces has never been their equipment, but the skill and proficiency of their pilots.
Their Block 60 F-16s are indeed better aircraft than most of our F-16s. I just hope they have actually been training hard with them and they are ready for suicidal maniacs bent of revenge if Iran is attacked.
