The first oil-covered birds are being seen on the Gulf shore as well as further out. One bird, a gannet, which is normally white with a yellow head and long, pointed beak was covered in thick, black oil. The rescuers are cleaning the bird at Fort Jackson, a historic landmark about 70 miles southeast of New Orleans.
Rescuers are expecting to be busy for a long time cleaning the birds and other wildlife with Dawn detergent, which seems to work best. Hopefully, they can save many of the otherwise doomed creatures from this huge disaster. There are over 400 species that they approximate will be affected by this.
Fishermen are also going to be suffering from this spill. Millions of fish and shrimp will die as a result of this spill.
I'll take three strips, slaw, and an order of mashed potatoes. Thank you! :-)
The 2012 Obamavette!
There’s a thin component, then there’s some isolated denser chunks. Apparently these little dudes landed on the chunks.
Probably because his “middle class vacation” took priority.
While I don’t have the numbers handy, I’d like to point out that this is the most productive fishery in the USA. Hundreds of thousands of people work the gulf fisheries and it generates many billions of dollars for the area. The coast (Tx and La) is largely marsh and wet-lands. Should all this get wiped out, even if just for a few years, it will be very bad for all of us.
The left is happy to put in so much time and money to save the shrimp, while, at the same time, trying to mandate public money to fund the murder of babies. Such hypocrites!!!!!
That one looks a quart low, better throw it back.
OBAMA’S FAULT
No matter what we do to contain this mess, this administration is going to use this incident to further the Cap in trade legislation. This was a big win for the leftists and environmentalists. There is nothing in life that contains no risk but you can't tell that to the utopians.
