The White House said today it is halting all new offshore drilling in U.S. waters until there's an "adequate review" of a massive 600-mile wide oil slick that has begun to lap up on Louisiana's coast.
The federal government is defending its response to the spill, which began with an April 20 blast on one of British Petroleum's offshore rigs that burned for two days before sinking. Rescuers saved 115 workers but 11 are presumed dead. BP is responsible for the cleanup, and it wasn't until Thursday -- nine days after the explosion -- that the White House declared it "a leak of national significance."
White House senior adviser David Axelrod told ABC's "Good Morning America" today that President Barack Obama has decided that there will be no new domestic offshore drilling until an investigation of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill incident is complete.
"All he has said is that he is not going to continue the moratorium on drilling but ... no additional drilling has been authorized and none will until we find out what happened here and whether there was something unique and preventable here," Axelrod said, defending the administration's policy.

ROFLOL!!!
That has crossed my mind, too, which is just pitiful, and a reflection of what a mess we’re in
Barry0 is probably grinning ear-to-ear.
Yeah, riiiiight!
Excellent questions!
Why is no one else asking them?
This is like cancelling all air travel after a single plane crash.
. . . . and it takes little or no reason for prices at the pump to spike if there’s the slightest rationale.

“I thought I heard it was only 3 miles off the coast.”
Way off.
Has anyone considered Islamo-fascists
_____________
Yes, I have and his and his thugs are squatting in the WH.
Truly to be vigilant is of supreme importance. The danger is in defusing the energy and passion that comes from real threat and peril. MO. we do not want to ‘cry wolf’ too often. In truth every word and action coming from the executive branch is aimed at furthering the Marxist take over of our government. For whom? Simply the flawed members of the executive branch in Washington? (and the legislative and other, as we see, etc. When this is true it is overwhelm for the system. We have no time to develop proof and pursue justice before the next outrage happens. we have not been able to close the border, we have not stopped OBAMA care, we did not stop the two stimulus boon doggles, nor the take over of GM, etc., etc.. We are pretty much batting zero!
We are behind the curve in informing the people of America in an effective way. Personally I receive 100 plus mailings a week asking for contributions for dozens of worthy causes. Sound organizations. Except for a few legal cases won. There is little or no effect or discernible results.
I liken it to spitting into the wind. Going nowhere.
Sorry to be a wet blanket today. We are approaching a point of no return soon. Tell me a nation that has come back from such a point.
We believe in a God of the impossible. The most high God. He is sovereign. Are we bowing before Him and asking for mercy and being repentant?
Father help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.
“I am a contract safety inspector for BP. I can tell you that BP takes it’s safety procedures to the extreme. So much so that, at times, it is difficult to get work done.”
Great! A reliable source to discuss this with. So, considering all the safety practice in place, how is this inccident explained? I think it too coinccidental with the agenda of those in power (who happen to despise the traditional energy sector) to be the result of an “accident” or safety violation.

And look at this!
Now Haliburton is a suspect!
How convenient is that for recapturing Bush/Cheny Derangement Syndrome??!!!
FLIP FLOP
“Yet Obama and company will blame greedy capitalism for the markets reaction to government interference.”
This is how the left operates. The Marxist Hegelian Dialectic is a process in which the government causes a problem through its actions, then acts like a spectator as the problem unfolds, then proposes new actions to cure the “crisis”. The government actions are all incrementally leftward. At no point does government admit that the problem was caused by government.
This incident was a freak accident that is so far unexplained. The BP guy stated early on that the only possible explanation could be improperly mixed concrete. That proved not to be the case. As far as I can see, there are only two other possibilities, one sabotage, the other is bad Chinese steel with uneven tensile strength. BP had a problem with the Chinese steel failing on their new tankers. I’m wondering if it could be the same thing.
That’s what I am thinking. Obama has already ordered the SWAT teams to go in.
As the Kenyan bows to the Saudi king
BINGO!!!
“Piffle, he’s canceled the drilling he never intended
in the first place.”
Move along, and pick up your gubment cheese.
Ah, hell. This happens all the time.
