Sure it will. That’s why it’s a democrat bill, kept secret by the democrats until the last minute.

I see Tea Partiers explaining to Puerto Ricans that Democrats did this to you over our protests, so they could tax the snot out of you.

"deeply religious Caribbean island."
That's my contention too.
PR is a Catholic nation.
Catholic members and the Church itself are conservative.

Why on Earth would a protectorate populated by a majority of people who have heretofore voted against statehood lest they actually have to pay Federal Income Taxes be considered in anyone’s wildest drunken stupor to be “potential Republicans” HORSESHIT!

Think Again. many Puerto Ricans fall far below the median national income. Lower income historically vote for the socialist RATs knowing the former will receive all sorts of handouts from the latter. It will immediately create a large class of dependent people who will vote for the socialists and give them two more seats in the Senate and 6-8 more in the House thereby ensuring power for the socialists for years to come.
The end result is tantamount to granting amnesty to illegal aliens. You're kidding yourself by thinking otherwise.

My theory is still that the Dems are doing this so they will have an opportunity to recreate the US Flag. I bet it will have an “O” in it.

I just don't see how anything the Democrats are pushing can possibly benefit conservatives.
The Dems are only enthusiastic about socialist initiatives.

I thought Puerto Rico went for Obama by a pretty large margin in 2008. I would say that is a better indicator of their political leanings.

The Canada/Quebec issue is an rift that will never be healed in our lifetimes. But it is a rift borne out of historical events.
Why would we willingly bring a primarily Spanish-speaking state into the union and in the process instantly create our own Quebec with a cultural divide that will inevitably spill over into our politics?
To: RED SOUTH
We do not need a 51 state and certainly not one where English is neither the first nor the official language.
