A VAT, even if used to replace the federal income tax, will still tax people multiple times by imposing a tax at each stage of production. That scenario is highly doubtful.

The far better national sales tax is The Fair Tax Act(HR25/S296) The Fair Tax is a solution that has been before each session of Congress since 1999 and already has 66 cosponsors. It is specifically written to replace all federal income taxes with a national sales by imposing the tax only once, at the point of sale and abolish the IRS! It's time to demand Congress pass what has been before them for years!

If the VAT is used to pay specifically for healthcare, the numbers improve swith 51% of voters nationwide still opposing a national sales tax...

Voters swayed by that nonsense need to learn what happens to the money specifically collected to fund social security and the highway fund.

Hopefully, this regimes push to Totalitarianism will be the ultimate push for the FAIR TAX and the end of the IRS - which they are increasing - their Gestapo arm backed up with their “National Police Force” -

the FAIR TAX and the end of the IRS would give us the original freedoms laid down by our Founding Fathers - something we have never fully had in our life times.

So far, I haven’t gotten a reasonable (or any) response from any liberal about why 0bama said we wouldn’t see ANY of our taxes increase if we make less than $250k,

The only explanations I’ve heard are: (1) the tax will be temporary (yeah, right); and (2) it will replace certain taxes such as federal income tax (yeah, right again).
