Apparently not satisfied with Congress attempts at financial reform, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is pressing for more international law and fast.
The US is preparing to pivot from domestic regulatory reform to a push for a tough new international capital regime after the weekends G20 and International Monetary Fund meetings glossed over differences between leading economies.
Tim Geithner, US Treasury secretary, met Mario Draghi, chairman of the Financial Stability Board, on Sunday to discuss the contours of a system that would decide the safety and profitability of banks for decades to come and could eclipse the arguments over bank taxes and regulation.
But the different positions of senior central bank and government officials from several countries expressed to the Financial Times on the sidelines of the G20 meetings in Washington suggested that a final international agreement remains a challenge.
The G20 communiqué on Friday said: We recommitted to developing by end-2010 internationally agreed rules to improve both the quantity and quality of bank capital and to discourage excessive leverage.
In other words, the Obama Administration wants to establish a massive global banking regulation regime by the end of the year. Doing this by international treaty rather than domestic legislation would mean only the Senate would have to approve. Its yet another example of the president sidestepping the legislative process to enforce his will.
The banking industry is already blasting the proposal. According to an analysis by JPMorgan Chase, the proposed global regulations would mean To maintain the same level of profitability, pricing on products would have to increase by 33 per cent.
I suppose our so-called president will have to submit a treaty then. So will tax cheat Geitner negotiate it, and will it just get in line behind the latest going no where Russian treaty.
The people are the sovereign in America our acting king cannot place our Constitution, the Supreme Law of our land under any International regulation.
So Obama is pointing a gun at the greatest economy on earth and shouting, “Smoke you!”
The Dems are staking out the populist trust busting position.
It will fail.
These people are determined to have a marxist world-Global governance. 2013 will be a shock to them, can we just exile the whole bunch?

If we get past Nov., 2010.
Apparently they’re determined to subjugate this nation before the 2010 elections roll around.
....they can’t run their individual nations, so their “fix” is to run ALL the nations?
If you think a signature without ratification is "going nowhere," I've got news for you.
Historical systematic dictatorship development:
1. Control Health Care, so you can tell who gets bullet wounds.
2. Control $$, so you can say who gets what $$, how & when.
3. Control communications, so you can suppress insurrection information.
They want to "elevate" -- to take the issues "above" national government (and away from the people).
Call it "cloud government", formerly known as "Empire".
Now I understand why Klintoon so loved to run around initialing treaties nobody thought could pass. He didn't have to pass them -- as long as his 'Rats could keep them from coming up for a vote, he could continue to "bind" us (technical term there, explained at the link), hobbling the United States and our People, in the teeth of our will.
What greater aphrodisiac for a moral and political felon of the zeroeth magnitude, than to do such a thing to the People against their will?
Thank you. The "Articles" page on that site is a compilation of some of what I've posted here plus a few more bits and pieces that didn't fit in the two two books at Shemitta.com and Naturalprocess.net. It means a lot to me when people find them valuable.
Be sure to read the NRDC article, as it sums up the others quite well with the modern implications of the rampant misuse of international law we see internally.
Enjoy!
