It was the dems health care reform plan to have everyone own an ID card. Now it’s suddenly a nazi idea?

"You don't need a concealed carry license to carry a gun unconcealed."
In Pa, in order to carry a loaded gun in your car, you need a license to carry permit which is our concealed carry permit. There is no license to open carry a firearms in Pa. There's no law on the books against it here. I guess I erred in assuming other states were like mine and came up with a poor example. I wanted to get people to see the problems that could arise. That's why I chose the gun issue.

Good point. Also, denying illegals a place to live through prrof of citizenship for home ownership or rentals. There are all sorts of ways to get em out. But I still support Arizona on their move to get the illegals out.

Im not sure if I agree with this. Stopping people in their cars to check for citizenship opens up a whole can of worms for abusing 4th amendment rights.I have the same concerns, as do many in this poll.
But I've asked several Mexican American friends the same question -- Would it bother you if were stopped based on looking Hispanic? The answer was no -- minor hassle, no different than dealing with airport security. One asked me if we'd ever been stopped in Mexico and identified as American -- the answer was yes! Last time we were in Baja, the government police (with automatic weapons and wearing ski masks) stopped us on the highway and asked for our passports.
My husband is often mistaken for being light Hispanic, he'd probably be subject to questioning in Arizona, too!

Is that really what is going to be going on though??? From what I’ve heard from the governor herself there will be VERY strict rules to prevent that sort of thing from happening.

I agree. It's amazing how this current federal government continuously oversteps it's constitutional bounds. Then when there is something that is clearly mandated by the constitution as something the Federal government should be doing, they refuse to do it. This Arizona law is all about the abrogation of the Federal government's responsibilities.

These stats mean nothing to Obama....he rammed through health care knowing the American people did NOT want it.

When are people going to learn that national polls have no bearing or meaning to this Jack Squat failure administration?
Did them same polls matter over ObamaCare, bailout of GM and Chrysler, TARP, the Stimulus, etc.......? No! They don’t matter now when it comes to Arizona’s immigration law. Watch and see....

“31% are opposed. “
These 31% favor:
Obama
Pelosi
Abortion
Gay Rights
SUV bans
Bank Reform
Union Rights
Global Warming
Animal Rights
Entitlement programs
Free Health Care
Bush Prosecution
Save the Whales
They are a drain on our Republic. Any ideas what to do with these deranged people?

"Last time we were in Baja, the government police (with automatic weapons and wearing ski masks) stopped us on the highway and asked for our passports."
And I never want to see that happen in our beloved country. We are not a bananna republic. As long as it was kept to are you a citizen/are you not a citizen it would be fine. However, it just bothers me to think that this would open up opportunities to pursue other criminal activity by this stop (i.e. violating 4th amendment).
The difference between us and the left are that we revere all of the Bill of Rights and at all times.

I suspect a good percentage of those in this poll who claimed to be opposed were afraid the pollster would see them as "racist" if they expressed approval for the law.
That's how weak-kneed the electorate has become.

I believe that, while Arizona has a perfect right to defend itself from being overwhelmed and invaded by illegal aliens, this is less than a perfect law. And because of those imperfections, it has a very good chance of being shot down by the courts -- which will, in effect, "throw the baby out with the bathwater".

Not shot down:
SAN FRANCISCO Gay rights activists say they have failed to qualify a measure that would repeal California’s same-sex marriage ban for the November ballot.
Restore Equality 2010 chairman Sean Bohac says the volunteer-run group fell short of gathering the nearly 695,000 signatures needed to put the initiative before voters. Monday was the deadline for submitting the signatures to the Secretary of State’s Office.
Bohac says Restore Equality’s failed effort was undermined by the decision of more established gay rights groups not to participate in the campaign.
He says same-sex marriage supporters now are turning their attention to trying to repeal Proposition 8 in 2012.
A lawsuit to overturn Prop. 8 also is pending before a federal trial judge.

If youre stopped, and youre legal, the nice policeman will apologize and let you go on your way. How do you prove you're legal?

No stopping a legally driven car to verify citizenship.
I oppose illegal immigration, but I don't want to go there.

No, it doesn't.
They stop people for DL checks and proof of insurance checks in my state. Have for some time. Got stopped in one. The car next to me was driven by an illegal. They didn't wave him through. ;) At the very least, he lost his car.
