Chicago Lawmakers: Call In the National Guard

CHICAGO -- Two lawmakers who believe violence has become so rampant in Chicago that the Illinois National Guard must be called in to help made a public plea to Gov. Pat Quinn on Sunday to deploy troops.

A recent surge in violent crime, including a night last week that saw seven people killed and 18 wounded -- mostly by gunfire -- prompted the request from Chicago Democratic Reps. John Fritchey and LaShawn Ford. They were joined by Willie Williams, whose son was shot and killed in 2006.

Chicago has had 113 homicide victims so far this year, Fritchey said.

"As we speak, National Guard members are working side-by-side with our troops to fight a war halfway around the world," he said during a news conference in downtown Chicago. "The unfortunate reality is that we have another war that is just as deadly that is taking place right in our backyard."

C;ean up the crooked politicians. There is a saying that in order to clean up corruption and crime start at the top. the bottom feeders such as lawyers and politicians have instilled the the corruption in Chicago for years. What the national Guard is going to come in and clean up the mess the Rat Politicians created. I thought Obama as a community organizer cleaned up the Chicago problem of crime. I mean he promised Hope and Change or was it Hopless Chains for America People. It seems Chicago is showing forth that it was the latter, hopeless chains.

Chicago has some of the toughest gun control laws of any city. There is not supposed to be any gun violence in Chicago because people are not supposed to carry guns in Chicago.

How come people are breaking those gun control laws?

If they could just get people to obey the gun control laws, there wouldn't be any shootings in Chicago.

These liberal Democrats has no concept of what the National Guard is for. All they know is to demand from “daddy government.” When they are born it is free at public expense. When they eat it is free at public expense. When the go to school it is free at public expense, and when they entertain themselves with violence and destroy a city it is at public expense. Now they sit and wonder why “daddy government” won't help. What a mess liberal Democrats have made of America's cities!

My guess is that they need the National Guard because the police are as corrupt as those they police.

This is a joke, right? Who here thinks that the National Guard are trained in law enforcement, raise their hands. Yeah, didn't think so. There is also this little law called posse comitatus idiots!!! By law, the National Guard cannot provide policing services.

The constituttion did provide a way to solve times of crisis though. Call out the militia. You know, the real militia. The people. There has got to be people living there that are concerned enough to form a militia, get trained by police and patrol the streets at night armed for self protection. Also, allow citizens to be armed. However, both of these constitutional ideas will never see the light of day in discussions in Chicago so it will continue to rot. And they can only blame themselves..
