Does anyone out there remember the Coffee Parties?
You can be forgiven if you have forgotten them. They made a brief appearance due to media driven hype over a month ago and then quickly disappeared from view when they inspired a collective yawn from the public. The photo at right shows a typical Coffee Party "rally" from back then. Typical in that few people showed up to protest against private ownership (aka free enterprise). Even the organizer of the Coffee Party non-movement, Annabel Park, seems to have lost her enthusiasm for the cause as evidenced by her Twitter page. After an initial flurry of posts, Park's interest pretty much petered out as you can see.
However, despite the utter failure of the liberal Coffee Parties to counter the popular Tea Parties, the MSM continues to hype them to the point of absolute absurdity. And the latest entry in this category comes from Steve Tuttle of Newsweek with his claim that the Coffee Party now has 200,000 members and that they had 500 meetings one one day recently.
Here is Tuttle in the midst of extreme hype mode. Please be prepared to have your BS meters fly off the scale while reading:

Annabel Park: Im glad to hear that the Tea Party has a democratic structure. I think the current problem for the Tea Party is that some of the rhetoric that I see coming from the Tea Party and they might have at the organizational level a set of democratic principles but I think their output in terms of their rhetoric is alienating to a lot of people in America.

Blogging the First Coffee Party Meeting in DC
As an alternative to the Tea Partys harsh anti-government rhetoric, a bold grassroots experiment to form a Coffee Party movement is now underway. The Coffee Partys stated mission is to give voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government and who recognize that a democratic government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will.
The Coffee Party organizers and Annabel Park, the accidental founder of the effort emphasized a vision that is very much about changing our nations political culture and, in particular, the way we talk about politics. It is an alternative to the Tea Party in that it seeks to counteract the Tea Partys discourse and tone. It also seeks to get beyond sound bites that have made the national political conversation stale and slowed our nations progress to a halt. Ms. Parks tongue-in-cheek description of the event as a self-help group for sane people seemed accurate there was a noticeable absence of crazy people who are usually drawn to meetings where they may have a chance to complain.
As described in a Feb. 26 Washington Post article, the Coffee Party began when Ms. Park a documentary filmmaker who has focused on immigration battles in Prince William County, Va. voiced concerns about the direction of this countrys politics on her Facebook page. Her desire for a more civil and informed discourse resonated with friends, and after setting up a Coffee Party fan page, 100 people had joined by the first day. The Coffee Party Facebook page now has more than 31,000 fans.
Ms. Parks appreciation for democratic ideals is grounded in experience. She grew up as a child in Korea when it was under military dictatorship. Noting that this regime was a result of her countrys civil war, Park wants to counteract the pressure to divide by building up our sense of unity and community. Her observation that in many ways, the U.S. never fully healed from our own Civil War underscored her message of the need to build community, reclaim a sense of the common good, and restore faith in our democracys ability to produce solutions.

Let’s see....by the time you subtract everyone under the age of 18 on FB there must be at least 1000 left! Subtract 1/2 because they wanted to look bigger so created an extra ID to sign up with...subtract... Yep sure they have 206,000 members! *wink*wink*
Guilty as charged, mate! *grin*
Wait until she finds that she can make a buck off of all of this attention.
What do they do at a Coffee Party??
Talk about how great Obama is doing?
I don't believe it. I do however appreciate their wishful thinking because if they have no grasp of reality they can't oppose us as effectively.
That’s a two-bagger fer sure.
“If this number is true why do I keep hearing crickets?”
Because 199,992 of the crickets make the balance in the tally.
PLEASE FORWARD these links to anyone who has been lied to by the media and politicians about the Tea Party Movement, which of course is everybody.
The True Face of the Tea Partiers
bingo!
If this is TRUE about the 200,000 members it only represents about 10% of the Tea Partiers that showed up at the capitol on 9/12 2009 . I say SO WHAT!!!!
