I think they are replaying the footage Jason Moreland shot of the tornado about an hour ago near West Point. He caught footage of it. The time on the video says 14:04 Central, and it’s 3:09 here (Central time).

Hi Magnolia. No, not a word. I have pinged him and offered prayers. I’m all but certain his entire area has lost power. I know the exact town he resides in, but I don’t want to post the information here. It is south of Yazoo City. IIRC, one of his sons lives awfully close to Sataria.

They look more like super cells and not a straight line kinda thing, so hopefully you will be spared. The same thing happened in Texas yesterday. Most of the super cells went north of DFW and we just got light rain last night.

I just had a look at the radar map. Things will stay calm for another hour and then we’ll have an exciting two hours. I’m working on a video so I’ll be on the computer for a while.

We’re located right on the AL-TN state line in Madison County near Hazel Green. We’re about 20 miles from the Huntsville city limits.

We’ll probably have beautiful weather and clear blue skies tomorrow, always seems that way after a horrible day of weather just hours before.

They were just showing aerial footage on WLBT. It’s truly devestating. I am a bit worried about my little farm now. We have pines growing out there near Camden and Pickens.

Yazoo City is the hometown of Governor Haley Barbour.

Spec out a central hallway closet or bathroom, armed with mattress, water, flashlight, portable radio/batteries. There was a thread on here for folks in earthquake areas that had excellent suggestions, most of which would apply to tornado prone areas. Good luck and God bless you and all in this path. We will pray for no touchdowns, or if there be touchdowns, they come in empty fields.

I sure hope everything is alright at your farm. It looks bad, I agree... Can’t imagine it, really...

Thanks Onyx for the help. I agree that power is probably down in the area so that could be the reason we haven’t heard. As luck would have it, my mother is visiting my brother in Meridian. She just THOUGHT she was escaping Oklahoma weather!

It’s just pine trees, but they are almost ready to do the first pulp cut. Thanks to Obama..they aren’t worth much right now thanks to our economy..(eye roll). I’m just thankful the loss of life(so far) has not been as bad as it could have been. If anyone gets a track or map of the destruction, please let me know. I might be able to tell from that whether or not my farm has been hit.

Several buildings have been damaged after a Tornado hit western Mississippi, reported today the National Weather Service. The Yazoo City tornado also hit Valley Park and Durant according to a meteorologist working for the NWS.

In the meantime, Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has responded quickly to provide aid and officials at the affected areas are conducting a “massive response”. There are no official numbers on injured people, but the information we received speak about heavy damages in the area.

In order to provide aid for the Yazoo City tornado, American Medical Response has sent 11 ambulances to the zone.
