Well, our handyman was here earlier, but he is such a liar so when he told DrO that a ‘big ole tornado took out 20 houses just 10 miles up the river’ he didn’t believe him and I didn’t either!

I will keep you updated on the weather here. At the moment, we have no rain, the skies are lighter than they were an hour or so ago. That is supposed to change. However, it appears that other areas are in more danger than us.

I know the type. And with me that when I decide to go to the mat with them and challenge them about the latest whopper, that is usually the time they’re telling the truth. LOL! Cain’t win for losing.

Are you in the path of these storms too? Prayers up! If you see green skies..it’s time to move. That’s always the way it looks in Texas right before a tornado hits here.

LOL. Jemian, this is precisely what happened today. We both looked up at the clear sky -— no wind -— and I came into the house to turn on channel’s 3 and 12 (regular programming). Well, after I turned on computer and saw your pings, I turned on channel 16, which I hadn’t checked, and whaddaya know = full time tornado coverage!

In fact, channel 16 is showing my town as a perfect example of clear skies and calm weather!!!

Green skies were what it looked like in Illinois, too. I saw them a few times growing up... And later on as well. However, when I was in Colorado - the one I caught with my camera - the skies looked gray and blue. It was a very rare one to hit that close to the mountains though, so that might have made it different...

I heard that Meridian MS downtown area was hit, can anyone confirm this? Also heard a town near there called Mehan was also hit pretty bad. Can’t find anything on the Meridian local news which is not surprising. WTOK is rather slow and their website is not the greatest. However, they do keep you updated on sports events if your interested.

It’s pretty rare for Miss. to have these big wedge tornados like we have here in Texas, but this one sounds like at least a F4 or F5. We were born and raised in Ms. and have lots of friends and family there. I hope Haley Barbour’s family is all ok. He is from Yazoo City too.

I haven’t heard anything about Meridian yet. Have been listening to the Jackson stations and most of the worst damage is in Yazoo City and the surrounding areas.

You are so right about the green skies. Green skies, a queer feeling (I can’t describe it) and HAIL!

But at the moment, no, we’re good. I’m in Auburn, AL and the skies are clearing at the moment. Still overcast, but lighter and lighter. Some slight gusty winds.

I’m not breathing a sigh of relief yet. There is still stuff to the south and west of us and things tend to pick up toward evening.

Irony at TWC: they finally use flat-screens to analyze the storms, but the banner covers up what the mets are trying to show you.
