A very serious situation is unfolding today as all the necessary ingredients are coming together for a destructive tornado outbreak.

Several tornadoes are likely across the states of Mississippi and Alabama. Some of these tornadoes will be long-tracking, large tornadoes.
It's just not MS and AL however, adjacent states including Louisiana, Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee will also be under the gun for powerful tornadoes, large hail and destructive winds.

Praying for your dear friend. I hope you are able to contact her soon, and that she is unharmed physically. I’ll keep an eye out for any numbers to call if someone posts them here. I would imagine the Red Cross is already moving, or soon will be. Perhaps a call to them will give you a special phone number for inquiries?
Oh that’s wonderful news! I’m so happy for you my FRiend! :) As you said, prayers continue for others.
I’ve got a friend I consider family there right now, her family all live there as well. Their father’s memorial service is scheduled for tomorrow... If you’re able please let me know if anything happens there.
Wow. Cool link (for those of us not in harm’s way). Looks like Mr. Brown is coming up on something right this moment... Wish they had some indicator of where they are at the moment.
Click on the name you get bigger video and map.
BTW Yazoo City is Governor Barbour’s hometown, and apparently he was there when it hit, and he’s out trying to help.
On the link right below your post there is a link to chaser video streams and there is one who is in Yazoo city — Kris Hair. Looks like they are stopped and the road is blocked.
[Figured out if you click the name you can see a bigger version along with a map of where the chaser is]
I’m assuming you mean either Huntsville, or Auburn, AL?
>>Lord knows, we need the rain and a good two hour downpour to get rid of the pollen.
We’ve had it, needed it badly here in ATL.
It’s a lull here right now, so I just ran out and looked at the rain gauge. 1.5” so far, and more on the way based on radar. The pollen is gone from the deck, yay! There is some tulip poplar gunk (a few helicopters and flowers), but that will blow right off tomorrow.
The Eagle Lake tornado is north of me. Watching TV now.
I had no idea about any of this until I saw your pings!
She is going to call me back later this evening to give me the latest info. She has been called in for emergency work. I talked to her son that has muscular dystrophy too(md..not ms..i typed it out wrong earlier). He called me on his cell phone and was pretty shaken up but ok. He is pretty fragile but they managed to get him in the shelter with no incidents that could have hurt him, so we are very thankful for that miracle as well.
So glad you are ok dear! Scary stuff. Trying to get more info now. FR is always the first place I go to get info. We have some great FReepers! It sounds like Yazoo City is pretty demolished.
Sorry... They are in Auburn.
Jason Moreland (storm chaser) is near West Point at this moment. Lots of FAST clouds a moment ago (like what we saw behind out neighbors house when a tornado hit our town a few blocks away from us).
His specific feed is located here: http://www.chasertv.com/api/static_pages/lite/313_jason-moreland.php
I’m glad you’re aware of this now. Amazingly, we have no rain at the moment and the skies, while overcast, are light.
I should probably go back and read all the posts on this thread, but everybody needs to know that our longtime FReeper WKB and his family live right near Yazoo City, so please get down on your knees and pray.
He has two grown sons and grandchildren in the immediate area.
I checked his forum posts and he has not posted. Power is likely out.
Praying here.
I’m in the Murfreesboro (TN) area and so far nothing but hard rain but they just announced that the worst is yet to come.Last year we missed a tornado by about 3 blocks. Beginning to wonder about our location..we purchased this house new about 8 years ago and have had two new roofs because of hail damage.
