The fight over Senate Bill 1070 took to the streets of downtown Phoenix, as riot Police were called to the Capitol to control an unruly group of protesters.
Witnesses say a group protesting against SB1070 began to fight with a man who was for the controversial immigration bill.
Police tried escorting that man away from the scene, fearing for his safety, when they too came under attack by people throwing items, including water bottles.
A young man was arrested during that melee.
Things calmed down moments later, but riot Police remained at the capital to maintain some sort of order.
Earlier in the day, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed SB1070 into law,.

I just read your “about” page. You wanna know something?
YOU HAD A VERY SPECIAL FATHER.............
Wouldn’t it be great if every post on FR was done like that? Not!
Wonder when NBC, SEE-BS, ABC, MSNBC, and CNN will do their 14 weeks of coverage of the racist Mexican illegals?
Attrition through enforcement will work if we elect a POTUS who will enforce our current immigration laws and effectively secure the border. As far as camps for those who refuse to leave and building the fence...piece of cake for Sheriff Joe!
Jinx, I don’t think that water bottle throwing (shown in the video) was anywhere near the riots that are coming............
I’m bolted and locked and loaded.
Thank you.
It’s Arizona Night on Free Republic. The last state in the continental US to be brought into the union, is taking drawn swords and rushing the battle lines, first met. Free cactus coolers for all in a celebratory toast. We’ve got them on the run, my fellow Americans, and they are trashing the place on the way out. Typical.
That is a long, many year process.
Too damn bad. Millions of people have done just that and many more are doing so right now. Those immigrants are welcome; illegals are not.
Hear their “student activist” speaking about this. He as a big BUT. He’s not excusing their behavior (rioting, hitting officers with bottles and rocks) BUT this “WHITE GUY” wear a T that said, ‘I can go where I want because I can’. And he walked in front of “Mexicans”. what did he expect?
Yes it is, too bad for them they didn’t do it the right way.
thanks for posting. i was adding this link to every thread on AZ SB 1070, to show what “peaceful” demonstrators do when they don’t get their way. RIOT.
Heck. Not everyone does it or wants to do it. He has been posting for a while. I think it provides some texture. I find it mildly humorous.
But hey...we can disagree. I don’t think we will see it explode, it is too damn much work for people to go out of their way to do it.
Personally, I post a lot of pictures, more than most, because it just makes it more interesting in my opinion. But as my wife likes to say, it isn’t a hill I want to die on...:)
That way we don't end up with all those faggy smileys and emoticons like DU.
lulz Isaac Brock Reincarnated lol
If we ever got emoticons working here then in less than a month FR would become a blizzard of conflicting, screaming yellow blobs. That would be bad! |
lol
Thanks for the youtube link.
I will certainly agree with you that the border must be secured as a first step. Should have been done decades ago.According to Fat Teddy (now sober 7 months) it was done decades ago...
Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)
State and local law enforcement officials have the general power to investigate and arrest violators of federal immigration statutes without prior INS knowledge or approval, as long as they are authorized to do so by state law. There is no extant federal limitation on this authority. The 1996 immigration control legislation passed by Congress was intended to encourage states and local agencies to participate in the process of enforcing federal immigration laws. Immigration officers and local law enforcement officers may detain an individual for a brief warrantless interrogation where circumstances create a reasonable suspicion that the individual is illegally present in the U.S. Specific facts constituting a reasonable suspicion include evasive, nervous, or erratic behavior; dress or speech indicating foreign citizenship; and presence in an area known to contain a concentration of illegal aliens.
