WASHINGTON (April 23) -- President Barack Obama and his family are heading to North Carolina for a short vacation.
The Obamas planned to escape the confines of the White House at midday Friday, flying south to Asheville, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina.
The last time Obama was there he prepared for a debate and rallied supporters during the final month of his presidential campaign. He complained at the time that the golf courses looked great, but he didn't have time to play.
He's going to get that chance this weekend.

Wife and I went there once. Stayed one night and couldn’t wait to get the hell out. You could “smell” the liberalism.

Asheville is a nice little town let down by a cooky minority. The average person there is a solid person and the surroundings there are spectacular. So long as you don’t let a few hippies spoil your time its a great part of the world with a great history.

According to Twitter, Obama is now golfing at the Grove Park Inn. What with his hike with his wife on the Blue Ridge Parkway, he’s packing in a lot of exercise before supper.
Good point! He should fit in though, people don’t call the place east SF for nothing.

Didn’t the Obama’s just have a vacation in Hawaii in December or 4 months ago and Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts in August?
