Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed a controversial bill that seeks to crack down on illegal immigration.
The sweeping measure will make it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally. It will also require local police officers to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are in the country illegally.
Earlier, President Obama called the bill "misguided" and said it could violate people's civil rights. The bill's Republican sponsor, state Rep. Russell Pearce of Mesa, said Obama and other critics of the bill were "against law enforcement, our citizens and the rule of law."

Obama said:
President Barack Obama called anew for overhauling the nations immigration laws, saying a failure to do so will lead to misguided efforts such as legislation passed in Arizona.

Hmmm ZERO...let’s talk about the “misguided” healtcare legislation you “illegally” rammed down our throats?
FUBO................................
“The left is already talking about boycotting AZ.
Ill have to make sure to take my next vacation there. Always wanted to go anyway. This way itll be so much more fun!”
If the Left boycotts Arizona, I imagine it will short become paradise on Earth. ;) If we should all only be so lucky.
So why is the problem still so acute in AZ?
“So why is the problem still so acute in AZ?”
Look at a map, and recognized that the Feds have built fences in the other states.
I think we should wait. She’s going to be getting an avalanche of hate mail. Then, we can send our thanks after the dust settles.
they can’t you see
they only meet every two years
Border state? GRIN.....
this state az can’t afford it he is right
but you can donate money to az to fight it if you like
Excellent idea.
I just sent her my thank you.
She’s bound to get more hate mail than pro mail so send those thank yous everyone.
“So why is the problem still so acute in AZ?”
Maybe ID theft. And the police haven’t been able to pick them up, the schools can’t ask. It was down though, but more keep coming. We’ll see how things look in the fall.
Thanks for the information. Do you know if the legislation withstood court challenges?
They are still fighting. I know Kris Kobach. He has been working with the states to fight these suits, which are supported by such disparate groups as the ACLU and the Chamber of Commerce.
Congratulations Governor and the great State of Arizona !!!
The Fed has done nothing to stop illegal immigration and now Obama is trying to stop Arizona from protecting its citizens. This is a states rights issue and should be fought all the way to the Supreme Court. Arizona is demonstrating the highest level of patriotism and should be praised by the rest of the Country. Hey California, (Governor Swartzneger) (sp) when will you step up to the plate and do something for your citizens.. The rest of the Country is fed up with bailing you out... Clean up your illegals problem and maybe you can pay your own bills.
The liberals at Fox must be writing the headlines again... if a majority of the people support the Immigration bill then how is it controversial?
I’m sick the way Fox is handling the immigration issue. They seem to support the liberal mantra ever so slightly, each step of the way.
Congratulations Arizona. That’s one, 49 to go.
Thank you, and it's past time that we get back to the rule of law and start prosecuting the criminals in the cabinet wherever they are, whatever positions they hold.
I think it is too late- from what I hear AZ is already bankrupt from costs of illegals.
It’s good Brewer signed this bill but..
She signed a tax cut a while ago. And then moralized about how “neccessary” it was.
Her approval has tanked and she’s in serious danger of losing to the rat Terry Goddard. She needs to be dumped in the primary same as McCain. Very crowed field running against her.
