[history]
WASHINGTON -- Following the passage of Democratic health care reform legislation, President Obama assured the country that it was a "middle-of-the-road, centrist approach" instead of an intrusive, government power grab. But the government seems incapable of resisting the nannying impulse that undermines this claim.

Tonight was President Bush’s last State of the Union, and I do not believe history will judge his administration kindly...Because the American people can’t afford another four years without health care, decent wages, or an end to this war.....Imagine if next year was different. Imagine if next year, the entire nation had a president they could believe in. A president who rallied all Americans around a common purpose. That’s the kind of President we need in this country. And with your help in the coming days and weeks, that’s the kind of President I will be.

What the hell is a pre-screened fruit?
Washington is full of fruits right about now.

They will not rest until we jump perfectly when they say jump.

They couldn't do it without "right-wingers" supporting the same commerce "authority" in order to keep federal anti-drug laws.

The NObama POS went to Fort Hood for the funerals of the victims of the Muslim shooter-—and for a photo op.
NObama DID NOT visit a single one of the wounded.
Pres Bush went to Ft Hood on his own dime, in his own car, and visited all of the wounded, and most people never knew he was even there.
NObama is adicted to the photo op.
He is a lousy excuse for a President- even one who is not eligible to even be there.

Restaurant smoking bans have improved my life and my appetite. And once that infringement on property rights became codified, with the apparent approval of the author who seems unable to connect the dots, the race was on.
The smoking bans were the canary in the mine, but there were too many self-absorbed and short-sighted whiners jumping on that bandwagon.

Smoking bans were enacted because smokers did not honor the right of non-smokers to breathe clean air.

Non-smokers have always had the option of not patronizing an establishment that allowed smoking.
No one has a "right" to breathe clean air.

Just like anything you find objectionable, you were always free to leave. Or smoking could have been banned by the property owner and the smokers could leave. It was the false claim that second-hand smoke kills people that brought nanny government and the busybodies who elected it into the picture. Same thing with "global warming". Concoct some pseudo-science and then become a tyrant. I don't smoke, but here's smoke in your face.

(not me, just a pic off the net)

No one has a "right" to breathe clean air. Attitudes like yours is why the anti-smokers had to resort to smoking bans ....

No. Basically it is because smoking is a dirty, filthy foul-smelling activity. Back before smoking bans, you could NOT get away from it. Movie theaters, buses, cars, planes ... it was everywhere.
Now, smoking is mostly relegated to the lower class who can least afford it.
