EPIC v. Homeland Security: Government has Over 2,000 Photos from Airport Body Scanners
EPIC ^ | 16 April 2010 | EPIC

Posted on 04/23/2010 2:47:53 AM PDT by Palter

As a result of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, EPIC has obtained hundreds of pages of documents from the Department of Homeland Security about the plan to deploy full body scanners in US airports. A letter to EPIC reveals that the government agency possesses about 2,000 body scanner photos from devices that the DHS said earlier "could not store or record images." EPIC has also obtained the most recent device procurement specifications, and several hundred new pages of traveler complaints. For more information, see EPIC: Whole Body Imaging and EPIC: EPIC v. Department of Homeland Security

After the images are viewed by DHS they are forwarded to the executives over at the SEC. They love this stuff.

I’ve seen sample images from these machines that were posted on-line. You can clearly see genital slits and buttock cracks. I can imagine that images of celebrities flying could be sold to tabloids.

And I’m sure our congressional overseers will be all over it.

Pretty soon every pervert in America will be working at our airports. That is if most of them aren’t there already.

The description is of a person working in a room off to the side where they can’t see the people they are scanning. Hope they have lots of Kleenex handy...

My wife and I will be driving than you very much.

You can see the same thing in a lingerie catalog. The only icky part is the butt...I do remember seeing that in the sample images as being fairly explicit for a scanner.

If I could turn my backside toward the camera and bend over, showing the government just exactly what I think about it, it might be worth it.....

I kinda’ expected Feingold to be all over these invasions of privacy. But, little noise about Feingold in the news these days - maybe privacy violations are acceptable when aligned with his political views.

That said, kudos to the agents working to keep us safe.

I witnessed a real-life event of a line of middle eastern males being allowed to board a plane without a second glance while a 90-year-old man was having his walker examined, his suitcase rifled through, him being searched head to toe, etc. Common sense has long left the building and we’re gonna pay dearly for it someday.

Meh. It'd just look like you're saying "Obama."

They need to record images. If they find something on someone, they have to have an image of it. Obviously, they LIED when they said there would be no capability to record.
