The judge presiding over former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's corruption trial called an emergency meeting Thursday evening after information that was intended to remain under seal was released to the public in a defense filing to subpoena President Barack Obama.
Judge James B. Zagel scheduled a 6 p.m. hearing in his chambers to question attorneys about why the redacted information was readable, according to reports.
But Blagojevich's attorneys denied that interpretation. When asked whether the meeting concerned the redacted documents, attorney Sheldon Sorosky responded simply "no."
The defense motion, filed Thursday afternoon, request to call President Obama as a corroborating witness and argued that Obama could verify that Blagojevich didn't try to sell his seat.
The filing contained several paragraphs that had been blacked out electronically. However, the underlying text was easily viewable in the electronic cersion of the document if a reader simply copied-and-pasted the paragraphs into another program.
The failure to properly redact is a relatively common one in government circles.

Good point... Although in this case — who ARE the usual suspects? If Obama is no longer in the good graces of the Daley Machine, and if the prosecutor (a Clinton appointee) IS, then the judge may really be between a rock and a hard place... Perhaps he will decide that in order to save himself he implicates the whole LOT of them — Daley AND his machine, Blago, Obama, Emmanuel, Clinton, Pelosi, Reid, etc... A girl can dream right?
It’s really hard to know who is on whose side there in Chicago. Within this entire mess, I’d probably believe the Federal Prosecutor above ALL of them... Even though he was appointed by Clinton!

Wouldn’t surprise me... There will be blood as you said. This is like an old-school playground fight — for the time being. Really hard to tell who all is going to jump into it and on whose side!
And how the heck is President Obama supposed to be able to "verify" a negative? Is Blagojevich going to claim that Obama was physically by his side every second between the night the Presidential election results rolled in and the appointment of a Senator to replace Obama? Heck, just what the feds have on tape shows that Blago is a quick and efficient promoter of illegal deals -- he could have made attempts to sell the seat just in the time it would take Obama to run take a leak and run back.
I don’t see why this is bad for 0bama.

The Machine was done with Zero the day he couldn't deliver the Olympics for Chicago.

Like I said - all I’m doing is speculating here with a “raised in Cook County” remembrance of all the shenanigans I’ve seen throughout my life, but that would fit... And bringing back up what the PUMAs said in October of ‘08. I don’t think they thought it would take this long to come to fruition though.
Indeed, I believe President Obama has outgrown any need for the infamous Chicago political machine. They’re nothing but liabilities at this point. It’s a wonder the whole of them haven’t been the victims of mysterious Emanuelcides by now.
I do too, but it’s all speculation as I said. I could be completely wrong — and have been in the past I readily admit it!

I don’t think that’s why they want Obama in the courtroom. Like you said, how could he verify a negative?
