The judge presiding over former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's corruption trial called an emergency meeting Thursday evening after information that was intended to remain under seal was released to the public in a defense filing to subpoena President Barack Obama.
Judge James B. Zagel scheduled a 6 p.m. hearing in his chambers to question attorneys about why the redacted information was readable, according to reports.
But Blagojevich's attorneys denied that interpretation. When asked whether the meeting concerned the redacted documents, attorney Sheldon Sorosky responded simply "no."
The defense motion, filed Thursday afternoon, request to call President Obama as a corroborating witness and argued that Obama could verify that Blagojevich didn't try to sell his seat.
The filing contained several paragraphs that had been blacked out electronically. However, the underlying text was easily viewable in the electronic cersion of the document if a reader simply copied-and-pasted the paragraphs into another program.
The failure to properly redact is a relatively common one in government circles.
Sorry not trying to smear anyone but this is stuff I read a few years ago having to do with the exchanges.
So who is the power in the town - I had always heard the Daley clan owns Chicago. One of teh reasons the Kennedys also owned (past tense) the Merchandise Mart was Irish-Catholic power in the city. I assume Daley is Irish. If I am smearing then I am smearing myself.
Last time I was there - my impression is there is lots of eastern Europeans now.

The Blago mess, Iran nukes, the Long Form, the Arizona Eligibility Law (and more getting on board), imminent Israel/Iran War, the whole Muslim/Islam "problem", Amnesty - which is going to be a real tipping point for Patriots, the Border Fence, more TAXES, more welfare entitlements, the "half work and pay taxes and half don't work and get welfare" problem, the racist tone, the Czars, the "commies in the government including O himself", Cap n' Tax, Card Check, Gun Control, the Healthcare Ram down, the anti-business anti-capitalist stand - lets see, I'm just getting started but you get my drift, there is Too Much going on. . .

Sorry.. knee-jerk reaction. To be sure the Daleys are in control of the political arm of the city. However, the mob is still a factor. (See the post linking to the SF paper on this thread — the last paragraph refers to Obama, Rezko, and a deal involving a casino owned by the Chicago Mob)
Chicago has the highest number of ethnic Polish people other than Warsaw, Poland. So, you are right re: Eastern Europeans being a large section of the population. I don’t know about the rates of other ethnicities in the city though (married a Polish guy, so that’s why I know that one stat).
However, I don’t think being Irish, or Catholic, or Jewish has a lot to do with it. I think it’s still specific wealthy families rather than groups as a whole... After all Ayers’ Dad was a major player as well owning the electric company and all — probably the only reason Ayers and Dohrn got off.
Court proceedings take a long time - sheez look how long its been already to get this subpoena out there! Suppose it lasts until after November 2010......and suppose Congress changes hands......supposing DeMint or Cantor or somebody takes over both majority speaker positions......oh well a girl can dream can't she?????

Don’t know about word on the street but read a thread somewhere, at least 5-6 weeks ago, where Hillbuzz was speculating Rahm was going to run for mayor. I remember they had a reasoning behind the speculation but don’t recall what the reasoning was or anything else. I think they have Chicago inside politics pretty well pegged.
Want me to go over there and see if I can dig it up?

IIRC, it was the boys at Hillbuzz who first reported the “gossip” in the halls of the Federal Courthouse & Fitzpatrick’s office... That’s what I was going to go look for over there as well. :)
