Despite grounding 100,000 flights across Europe , battering a beleaguered airline industry, stranding hundreds of thousands of travellers, disrupting schools and businesses, and giving homes under flight paths their first peace and quiet in decades, the current volcano eruption may be only a teaser of chaos to come.
A far bigger Icelandic volcano, Katla, is tipped to erupt in the coming months, potentially causing much more savage and sustained disruption to industry and society. Eyjafjallajokull erupted on 14 April, forcing European governments to impose a no-fly zone. Each time Eyjafjallajokull has erupted in the past 2,000 years in 920, in 1612 and between 1821 and 1823 Katla has exploded within six months.

That should block out more of the sun and ease global warming.

"Each time Eyjafjallajokull has erupted in the past 2,000 years in 920, in 1612 and between 1821 and 1823 Katla has exploded within six months." This is the central datum that caught my eye several days ago.
These two volcanoes are basically sisters. When one goes off, the other soon follows. Katla is the more fearsome of the two, and when that one blows, it's going to affect the whole earth.
The most devastating consequences will be seen in Iceland itself, and in the areas of Europe most recently affected. If Katla goes, North-Western Europe is going to look like something out of a doomsday novel.
Couldn't come at a worse time, politically, or economically.

Volcanoes and earthquakes? Could God be trying to get our attention? Of course Pharoah ignored all those plagues so I imagine obama et al will be no different.

I find myself cheering for the Volcano's. I know its wrong but seeing the Earth demonstrate in no uncertain terms that humans are not in charge around here brings me a sort of guilty pleasure. It just goes to show how farcical all this Gia cult / global warming crap is. A volcano cannot be appeased by throwing it virgins, and it can't be appeased by driving a Toyota Prius. So all you greenies who think you can control nature get a good look. Nature controls you.
Now all you greenies please get back to picking up trash or doing something for the environment that might actually be useful. Not because you are saving the Earth (It can take care of itself quite nicely thank you) but because it makes peoples lives on the Earth a bit more pleasant.

Katla is like the Mount St Helens of Iceland.
It concerns me, but not on a "doomsday" level. Laki is the one where the SHTF.

On the bright side its name is easier to pronounce. True. The best I can manage for the first sister is Eye Yaff Yalla Yokel.
Eye of Yalla Yokel anyone?

That should block out more of the sun and ease global warming. If Katla blows, the reduced sunlight could affect crop production, worldwide. Stock up on those can goods.

Almost an End Times scenario 'the sun became black as sackcloth' happening just like it was planned a planned event.
I was watching "How the Earth Was Made tonight. The show was "Icelandic Volcanos' Apparently, the biggest explosion was in 1793, there was soo much SO2 that the sky turned red and misty. Leading to widspread famine and freezing the Mississippi River solid as far as New Orleans!
