WASHINGTON -- President Obama is still whittling down his list of potential nominees for the U.S. Supreme Court, but he said Wednesday he wants to pick a candidate who will interpret the Constitution to take into account individual and women's rights.
Obama said he is hopeful that his nominee will "gain the confidence of the Senate" and can win confirmation by August, in time for the fall session.
The president spoke after meeting with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy and Committee Ranking Member Jeff Sessions. He said he does not have a "litmus test" to determine whether candidates will support abortion rights, but he's looking for someone who's got bodily rights in mind.
"You know, I am somebody who believes women should have the ability to make often very difficult decisions about their own bodies and issues of reproduction," the president said. "I don't have litmus tests around any of these issues but I will say that I want somebody who is going to be interpreting our Constitution in a way that takes into account individual rights, and that includes women's rights.

We allowed God to be removed from our schools and government.
How ‘bout a justice who is concerned with individual rights, not special rights?
“Women’s Rights”
Is this even a flimsy facade anymore?
Just say - “the nominee has to agree that it’s a ‘right’ to kill an unborn baby at any time for any reason, including sheer convenience”
What rights don’t women have that men do? No one is making them sit down to pee!
Somebody should explain to him that unlike in Kenya, here in the United States only individual have rights, not groups.
I’m concerned about the diversity of the Court that after Stevens there will not be any WASP justices.
This is why I call him Barack Obortion.
The nominee will be very very liberal. It’s only a question of how radical they are. And, we’ll see what minority group this person belongs to. She may be an open lesbian, for example. She may be a member of some other ethnic minority. “He”, if it’s a man, can only be nominated if he’s a member of an ethnic minority. The only way a caucasian man can be nominated is if he is openly homosexual.
Whatever the case, the nominee will probably be historic, the first of some allegedly oppressed minority group on the high court.
In other words, Obama wants to preserve abortion, or MURDER, of innocent life! Perhaps God is allowing our sinful country to go down the tubes, headed up by Satan’s spawn, because of the stupidity of the people He graced with the promised land! His wrath shall continue to pour out unless we repent and change our wicked ways!!!!!!!
Sounds like Obama code-talk for: “I will nominate a lesbian to the court to get the gays off my back over Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”
Which is it zero?????
You never hear the ‘bama saying his appointee’s should know and follow the law. The SCOTUS has become a nine person legislature to whom statutes and precedents are irrelevant (except for Roe v. Wade, of course).
NOTHING BUT AN EMPTY SUIT - I have said it before and I will say it again and keep on saying it, “Nothing but an empty suit”!!!
So the 19th amendment to the US Constitution is OK.
I am female and I believe this is crap! Your job as a Supreme Court Justice is to follow the damn constitution! Not to follow Obama or Bill or George or Saucy Bearnaise, or your last gay fling!!! Damn!
