That’s pretty cool you could find that GPO Access site. The keynote speaker at a computer conference I attended today was saying there is no open access to the laws of the country. Was arguing for open government like open source. Also a new service program for techies called Code for America.

I’m not sure I see the standard to apply before we speak. What is the rule on that under the 1st amendment of the Constitution so awesomely upheld this very day by the Supreme Court. ?

that depends upon what political motivation drives the SCOTUS at the time. How about a standard of logic. Ayers doctrine is one of leftist idealism and anarchy. Leftist idealism is a fools hame that ends in loss of freedom. Anarchy is a lie that continues until the anarchist meets the end of the barrell. These are not standards that I would choose to endorse, but rather to resist. Which is why I hate Ayers and Obama and love freedom

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from having your views questioned. It only means the Government may not prevent you from speaking or punish you for what you say. Protestors and demonstrators are fully within their rights to attempt to disrupt his talk.

Stopping someone from speaking (disrupting) just means you’ve run out of ideas to counter his bad speech. Why not go and ask questions? Then if he will not answer verbal questions, that’s the time to get a little more verbose.

BTW, did anybody figure this might be a carefully orchestrated stratetegy to have an opportunity to paint the right in a bad light? After all, when it didn’t work with the black caucuses provocative march through angry protesters, the lying filth claimed it happened anyway, and spread their slander far and wide, knowing most people won’t

actually view the videos.

I hate to give credence to this guy.

no that is not the case. Disrupting a public appearance is breach of the peace. It is a criminal violation if it leads to disruptions after waning to cease and is punishable under criminal law and rightly so. People are invited to speak at an event, the first amendment does not allow interference with that event although you can go down the street and yell all you want. Are you going to do that?

Those are all good points. Personally, I choose the path of polite inquiry, calm and measured, dosed with a generous sprinkling of satire and sarcasm.

Kinda like holding up a “fruits and nuts ahead” sign ;)

$1500 is being paid to him, i believe all his expenses to get here may have also been paid by the humanaties/art program at FSU as well. Hopefully some of you can be there tomorrow to show your disapproval with the decision FSU has made in inviting this commy to our neighborhood. My girlfriend was on the news last night, crying out for help from the community, protest this with her! Please put out the word for folks to be on campus for a peaceful, yet powerful reaction from those that disagree with his presence on our local grounds. Contact the dean of FSU and let them know your thoughts as well.

If no one has answered the fee question, it's in the article which apparantly has been updated

Late Tuesday afternoon, Fresno State announced that Ayers will give a speech Friday afternoon at 2 in the Alice Peters Auditorium in the Peters Business building -- then sign books at a reception following the talk.

The topic of Ayers' speech is "Pay Attention and Be Astonished:  Ethical Action and the Creation of the Public Square."

His film 1998 film "Central Station" will be screened from 4:30-7 p.m. in the auditorium, before a post-screening discussion led by Ayers in McLane Hall Room 121.

His appearance is being sponsored by the Cineculture Club, the College of Arts and Humanities and the Kremen School of Education and Human Development.

The events are free and open  to the public.

He will be paid $1,500 by the Cineculture Club, whose screenings and discussions are funded through the $62 a semester activities fees paid for by students.

He will also be paid $560 for travel out of non-state funds from the Kremen School.

Ayers will pay his own $87 hotel room.

(Friday, 2pm, Alice Peters Building, PB 191)

Yes, it is following your state Nevada which gave us Harry Reid
