that he had to renominate Janet Reno for another term as Attorney General or she would go public about Waco.

Huh? That doesn't make sense. Cabinet officials don't have to be renominated or reconfirmed. The only thing close is if the official was put in as a recess appointment and that term is temporary. But that doesn't apply to Reno, so after her confirmation she served as long as Clinton wanted her there.

Clinton WANTED to keep her there because of what is now coming out, that member of Delta Force were involved. This would possibly have violated the Constitution by using US military in a police action against US citizens on US soil. Could have been grounds for impeachment right there.

This all is starting to make sense, because he was ready to blame her and dump her, with his remarks about not knowing what SHE did there.

Traditionally all Cabinet members offer their resignations at the end of the first term. The President declines to accept the resignations of those he wants to keep, thanks them profusely, and nominates somebody else.

Clinton was going to let her go. Didn’t you get the whole story? Sounds to me like what they used to call blackmail or extortion.

There lies the problem. If I recall a lot of rumors were going around that Clinton didn't want her anymore. She probably said; "Listen! left crook, you better keep me on or you know what I will tell."

Correct, but look at folks here buying this. What a shame. What ever happened to critical thinking?

Good point. Maybe this had something to do with the obvious decline in Reno's health. She did not appear to be fit for office by any stretch. Remember that she was Clinton's 3rd choice for the job & it was entirely likely that the Clinton's were auditioning replacements (or auctioning the job to the highest bidder). Maybe Janet got wind of the project & offered to take the heat for Waco in return for super-seniority?

This was after his reelection. He wanted reno gone because she kept appointing special prosecutors. There was a huge stink about it.

IIRC, Web Hubble was “in charge” during the Waco fiasco.

I believe the common practice at the beginning of a president's second term is for all cabinet members to tender their resignations, and then the president decides which resignations, if any, he will accept.

But I do wonder what Reno supposedly had on Clinton pertaining to Waco that would persuade him to keep her if he was planning on dumping her.

Yes, but it was an open secret in DC for a time that Clinton wanted to fire her because she had appointed a Special Prosecutor in, I think, Lewinski.
