Known to US soldiers as the Valley of Death, it's been the scene of the some of the most intense fighting in the war in Afghanistan.
After years of intense fighting, the US has left its remote outpost in the Korengal Valley, in the country's east.
Al Jazeera's James Bays has more on the move, which the US calls a re-positioning of forces, but which the Taliban has declared a US defeat.

U.S. govt under Taliban control.
How much intel is being leaked by Muslim brotherhood moles in Wash DC (in the govt) back to the Taliban and Al Qeada?
The ROE now makes it pretty much impossible to engage the enemy.
Al Jazeera...
I think I need a second opinion.
Time to attack them from the spots they hit us from.
Let the Talibunnies swarm into it — then bomb it into dust...
If americans really wanted that pile of rocks, they would’ve built way more than those pathetic little huts there.
Then it's not a "U.S. military base," is it?
My sentiments and thoughts exactly.
Let them move back in and then, Ka Boom. Death from above.
I love the way Al Jeezera talks bout it as an American defeat or Taliban victory.
Here Talibannies, here’s your worthless POS dirt/goat shack/town back. Now what are you going to do with it? No water, no phones, no MTV, No McDonalds, no NetFlix, no nothing. Adios MF’rs.
Is it a “US base” if we just walk off and leave it? Is a base or just a piece of worthless dirt in the middle of nowhere that we leave to a bunck of dumb Islamofascist cretins and barbarians?
It would have been neat to bury a couple of tons of explosive underneath the place, then send in a UAV and detonate it when the Talis were celebrating their "victory". Mebbe add a few cases of Spam or other pork products. Mix 'n Match, so to speak. Had they done this, it would have made the next bunch a lot more leery of taking over ANY PLACE the Americans abandoned.
Sounds like a good plan to me...
Sounds like a good plan to me.
Well they do make world class opium
Sounds like a good time for Puff the magic dragon to huff his particular magic into the area.
