BATON ROUGE, La. -- Gov. Bobby Jindal said Monday he isn't going to comment further on the investigation into the recent French Quarter attack that left his chief fundraiser and her boyfriend injured.
Allee Bautsch, 25, suffered a broken leg, and her boyfriend suffered a broken jaw, nose and concussion.
When asked about the incident on Monday, Jindal said the couple is now recovering at home after receiving "serious" injuries.
We're going to refrain from commenting on it. We certainly keep her in our thoughts and prayers, Jindal said. I know she appreciates many people asked about her. She is home, which is a positive step.
Bautschs companion, 29-year-old Joseph Brown, told police he heard nothing suggesting the attack was politically motivated.
Brown said protesters were outside Brennan's restaurant during the Louisiana Republican Party event on April 9. But most of them had left about an hour before he and Bautsch left the restaurant, Brown told police.
Brown said several protesters were loitering outside the restaurant when they left, and he heard "cat calls" as they walked away. A group of three to five men followed them from the restaurant, yelled obscenities and taunted them, but he heard nothing suggesting the attack was politically motivated. The police report does not say what the protest was about.
Bautsch, who suffered a broken leg in the attack, was either pushed down or fell after Brown was attacked. Brown suffered a mild concussion and broken jaw and nose that required hospital treatment.
One of the attackers pushed Brown into an iron gate that surrounds the state Supreme Court building.
"He then fell to the ground, and one of the attackers got on top of him and began to attack him," the report says. "Mr. Brown stated as he was being pushed to the ground, Ms. Bautsch was also either pushed down or fell down near where he was."
No suspects have been identified in the attack, a department spokesman said.
Associated Press contributed to this report.
Ping!
Considerably different report than the ones that say the woman was stomped while she was down. It’s very difficult to believe she broke her leg in 4 places from being shoved to the ground.
Bobby is shrewd-no point going off on half facts like you worked for the NYT (who won’t report a word on the assault unless it can be blamed on a tea bagger or Dick Cheney.)
I heard the SEIU bestial goons broke her leg in 4 places.

Imagine that people were pushing this Liberal Wuss for President! What a wimp....you want someone like this dealing with Islamic Terrorists and the Mexican Drug Cartels?
Why would he not comment on this? I just don’t get it.
Yes, he can be Mister Shrewd and never say another word about anything. Then he will never get in trouble. He’s the governor of the state-—— and it is a week later— either protect your people or resign. Why isn’t he demanding that the perpetrators be hunted down and face justice? Did he think it happened due to magic fair dust? Why can’t he say that “no one can rule out a political motivation until the perpetrators are caught?” He shouldn’t be trusted to run a Cub Scout pack.
Jindal is very methodical and throughful. He doesn't fly off the handle like that fake pReZ we have right now.
Jindal/Palin would be an awesome Team.
The mods went with this thread - it was first, I think.
You had asked what’s up with Bobby. He’s what we in North Louisiana call a chikensh!t. But you know me and how I beat around the bush...
I’m guessing that the lawyers in his office told him not to comment for now.
I think he probably isn't commenting because of the investigation, but he could clear everything up by explaining that in a statement.
"I cannot comment further because of the ongoing investigation."
Wouldn't that help?
LOL—some people here won’t be satisfied unless Jindal captures the thugs himself.
No reason in the world for 30-something, charisma-challenged, milquetoast Bobby to top a ticket with Palin.
