While Poland mourned, Obama golfed
President Barack Obama has projected a solemn demeanor over the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife and 95 others, but his actions in the immediate hours after the news broke paint a less reverent picture.
A quick glance at pool reports filed Saturday show that not long after Obama placed a phone call extending his condolences to Polish Prime Minister Tusk, the president traveled to Fort Belvoir in Virginia to play golf with a handful of White House staffers.
On a political level, this was nothing short of stupid. The outing occurred amid mounting criticism from conservatives that President Obama has been neglecting U.S. allies, charges exemplified by the icy relations between the U.S. and Israel in recent months and a tough-love approach to Afghan president Hamid Karzai. Poland, obviously, has long been considered a key U.S. ally and maintains 2,000 troops in Afghanistan.
Additionally, Obama should have realized that golf and somber presidential moments can be a toxic mix.
Obama’s predecessor George W. Bush, whose golf outings Obama surpassed in October, was criticized for his love of the sport. A video of Bush on the fairway jumping from discussing the war on terror to inviting reporters to check out his drive was widely derided.

I did too and also got a thank-you and a statement about signing the condolace book at the embassy and when it was open. I am so ashamed of our idiot in the WH. There had to be a way to fly in from the south and go the rest of the way by train.Would’ve taken longer but out of respect at least Biden could’ve went.Obama could’ve stayed off the golf course too for the afternoon,what a low rent one he is!
i do not believe that he could not have flown somewhere over there and then taken a car or whatever.. If the ambassador can go, why can’t he?
Lighten up people, Obama suffers from CAD, and there likely is no cure. Compulsive A**hole Disorder is a horrific disease for both the diseased and anyone that gets near them.

Yep I get it! Kid is scheduled to go to events he really doesn't want to go to, it gets canceled, so he goes out and plays, since he has no other publicly visible obligations! Any child psychologist would tell you this is normal behavior!

Not attending due to the volcanic ash is not the real issue. It’s the crassness of playing golf instead of laying low as a sign of respect to the people of Poland.

Personally i’d love to see him play 18 holes a day. The more time he is doing that the less time he’s got to wreck things.
I believe the volcanic effects are a sound reason not to fly 4500 miles to Poland.BUT our president did not see fit to ride the few miles,if that, to the Polish Embassy and, with his wife, personally sign the book of condolence and offer his sympathies to the Ambassaador and the People of Poland. An ally in Iraq and Afghanistan, whom Obama has already betrayed.
