President Obama and the first lady on Thursday reported earning $5.5 million in 2009, the majority of which was from the sale of Obama’s books, the White House said.

By contrast, former President Bush and Laura Bush reported a taxable income of $719,274 in 2007.

The Obamas paid nearly $1.8 million in federal income tax and reported giving $329,100 to 40 charities. Their tax return is here.

Some context: The Obama's household income jumped from $991,296 in 2006 to $4.2 million in 2007. It was $2.7 million in 2008.

Maybe in the future we should get the IRS to require a birth certificate be included with tax returns.

In Florida now they require a birth certificate to "re-up" your drivers license... Big brother is alive and well in the Sunshine State...

I had to show a physical social security card to simply renew my driver’s license. That they already had the number on file was not enough (Texas requires it to “prove” you aren’t a dead beat dad even if never married with no kids).

I had to go down and physically show them the card. Disgusting that citizens must go through such a time consuming ordeal and yet the President is above proving his elligibility with proper paperwork.

Exactly! And if he really thinks we need to redistribute wealth, then he and his wealthy liberal friends can voluntarily donate the rest of their income to the Federal government to pay for his redistribution programs.

Nah, paying taxes is only for us lowly serfs. Sorry, but we need to get back to work now to support some more non-taxpaying leeches! If you don't work harder how are they going to keep getting their checks while they sit at home? Show some compassion, lol.
