That's why I don't eat sardines packed in China. In fact, I try very hard not to eat anything packed in China.

I heard there was a shipment of poison from China, that was rejected by the customer. It was contaminated with toys.

Sardines are slightly higher in protein and lower in mercury than tuna.

I learned to eat sardines watching my Dad eat them. Last summer one day I opened a can in the presence of my 8 year old granddaughter. When she asked what it was I put one on a saltine and gave it to her. SHE LIKED IT.

Now I have her eating raw oysters, too. Her 16 year old sister, as well as my wife and daughter, think both I and the gourmet granddaughter are crazy! ;oD

My brothers liked them when they were kids and my mother made them sit outside on the porch when they ate them. She wouldn’t let them inside the house when they were eating sardines.

It looked like a joke to me - the word ‘baitfish’ is what clued me in.

Well, yes, I saw that too. But when I combine that with the numerous other authoritarian (joking?) comments over time, I'm not convinced it's all in jest.

If I had to guess, I would imagine like the global-warming scam in a microcosm.

Lefties and Enviro-”scientists” with funding at stake have created a narrative of “overfishing” and get their clients in Gov’t to put in industry-killing measures, all for their unproven “science.”

It’s just that the sardine industry is tiny, so no one cares.

Sardines are slightly higher in protein and lower in mercury than tuna.

Are there reputable studies showing what a definitive toxic level of mercury is? I wonder where the true tradeoff lies between the benefits of fish and the danger of Hg consumption.

I do! King Oscar brislings, rolled in seasoned flour, fried in butter, served on toast, yum!

Just turned thirty two days ago.

I also love kipper snacks, right out of the tin.

Bait is a relative term.

“Baitfish are unfit for human consumption”

What about mullet, jacks, perch, bream and crappie?

Always loved them. Wife hates em, so we never buy them. I bet they’re good for you. Omega 3 in there. Sounds like the government is restricting the catch. Seems like there’s always a common thread.

To the best of my knowledge I’ve never even eaten one. They look really gross.

I had sardines packed with jalapeno peppers mixed in with ramen noodles for lunch.

Yum.

My father ate sardines with mayonnaise. I was probably about five or so and I asked him for a bite. He said I wouldn't like them. I had a bite and asked for more.

Now I have her eating raw oysters, too.

Raw oysters are the safest things in the world to eat. Nobody has ever choked to death on a raw oyster.

Our nation’s cities are filled with picky eaters who go into orbit at the smell of an opened can of sardines. If they had their way they would pass a law that no sardines can be consumed inside a building. For me, I love the smell and I love the taste of them.
