Activist who challenges Obama's citizenship (Orly Taitz) is booted from Tax Day Tea Party
LA Times ^ | 04/13/2010 | Seema Mehta

After candidates complain to organizers, Orly Taitz's speaking engagement is withdrawn. Taitz has been a leading voice in the discredited 'birther' movement.

(snip)

One candidate threatened to withdraw from the event before Tuesday's decision to uninvite Taitz. John Dennis, who is running for the Republican nomination to oppose House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in San Francisco, said he would not appear on the same stage as Taitz.

"The presence of a discredited publicity seeker on the same platform with patriotic Americans distorts the focus of our movement, distracts from our common message and gives ammunition to those who continue to question our legitimacy," Dennis said in a statement.

From what I’ve seen, by herself.

Oh please don’t get me wrong...Orly is a publicity fiend who has no business speaking at the Tea Parties. I was just a bit dismayed that they seem to be capitulating to the politicians so readily.

I just hope this trend doesn’t stick if, lets say, two opposing candidates from the same side make similar threats, and the organizers capitulate to one of them.

The woman is a loon. But, the only loon nutty enough to try to enforce the Constitution. The judges are the perfectly sane ones because they ignore the Constitution and have been for years. They are the reputable ones. Why can’t we get them to speak to the TEA Party movement? It would put us in the good graces of the media and the Democratic party.

One of our local pols pulled out of the event because of Orly.

Frankly, I have no interest in listening to a bunch of politicians at a Tea Party. The pols need to be listening to us.

Just what we need, a circular firing squad at the time we should be aiming to neutralize Obama’s agenda. Look, regardless of its merits, the birth certificate issue is a political LOSER.

I agree.

Put two recent President Obama quotes on signs and take THOSE to the American public instead:

"Whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower" - Barack Obama - (April 13, 2010)

"We've got to make sure that our party understands that, like it or not, we have to have a financial system that is healthy and functioning..." - Barack Obama (Feb 3, 2010)

If Taitz was there, she would be the only covered by the news media.

I think Taitz is a clown, but I am also mightily sick and tired of the dishonest, corrupt, stupid, and underhanded liberal-leftist establishment in this country.

Hmmm. . .just how has he been discredited? I've not heard any announcement that ZerO produced his birth certificate.

Let's see: she's lost every eligibility lawsuit; been sanctioned $20,000 for filing frivolous motions (sanctions upheld on appeal); she is, by her own admission, under investigation by the California Bar;   and she's been denied intervenor status in the Florida Federal HCR suit.  She's accused her webmistress of theft, accused her Republican primary opponent of fraud, and continues to preach that any media outlet that criticizes or ignores her should have FCC charges filed against them. And she has abolutely nothing to show for it all, unless you count YouTube videos of endless rambling speeches.

I'd say "discredited" is appropriate.

WE are trampling the Constitution if we let Obama pretend his way into the office of President! YOU are advocating trampling the Constitution. No matter where he was born, Obama is not a natural born citizen and therefore not eligible for the office of President. Period.
Maybe you’ve successfully kept your eyes closed so you don’t know the truth, or maybe you refuse the truth, I don’t know which.

“I’m not much of an Orly fan (understatement)...but why are candidate politicians now calling the Tea Party’s shots? And why is the Tea Party listening to them?”

The “Tea Party” you seem to be referring to are the early spontaneous gatherings. This appears to be an organized event meaning that someone is calling the shots from the get-go. You should be asking who is the organizer and how is he deciding who will and who will not be invited to and/or paid to speak.

Discredited?? By whom?

A couple of federal judges, for starters.

Maybe she’s a loon, but Orly and I both want to see that pile of hidden documents. Birth certificate, school records, travel records, etc. It’s not about the legal right, but the moral right. Obama needs to come clean. By the way, Steve Gill on WLAC, Nashville, was again publicizing the need for an end to the secrecy about Obama’s life story this morning during drive time. Glad this is finally getting the play it deserves.

I think the bc issue is valid & symbolic of how poorly this guy was vetted. There are tons of missing documents—we have no records of anything.

That said, Orly is the wrong person to be deemed by the MSM as head of the birther movement. She is not a competent litigator, she clearly does not understand the process & makes the movement look ridiculous.

Hopefully during the runup to 2012, some competent attorneys will step up.

I am well educated. I am not part of any 'fringe' element in society. But I firmly believe that everything re: Obama is a lie. We have been spoon-fed this manufactured Manchurian candidate from the beginning by the lame-stream media which purposely failed to vet him because it met their political ideology of destroying America. I don't believe he is a natural-born citizen and I don't believe he was legitimately elected.

I agree. Obama is a fraud. But we don't need Orly Taitz running the show. She's a liability and an embarrassment. I want a SCOTUS ruling on whether or not he is a natural born citizen, but until and unless I get one, I will fight Obama on his agenda and actions that will discredit him not me.

They ran a hip young black dude, who appealed to the masses, even Biden called him clean and articulate......no one ever said he was a man of wisdom.

I think I've made feelings clear about Orly Taitz.

That said ...

What's more concerning to me is that the LA Times took it upon themselves to call each and every candidate about sharing the stage with Orly. So they encouraged the candidates to speak up. What happens when the LA Times doesn't like someone else and interferes in another Tea Party event.

Sounds like blaming the messenger, not the message.

How does this prove Obama’s certificate is on the up and up?

I don't stand with those who say that the COLB is a post-Hawaii forgery (some digital image altered in a computer that does not exist on paper).

I only raise the same questions of speculation. Why spend $1,000,000 to fight its release if nothing is there? Why do judges insist it has been “released already” when it has never been introduced as court evidence? If the certificate HAD been released, there would be no further case. Instead we are repeatedly told that we have no right to know. That concept STILL has not been discredited. The American public does have a right to know if the president is eligible. His appointee for the head of the IRS is a known tax cheat.

Nailed it. Taitz should not be there and your description of the left is apt.

Is she also a Democrat? Or is that just Philip J. Berg?

And how did Berg go from being the self-declared "leader" of the "birther" movement to Taitz being "it"?
