Obama’s supporters have been whipped up to near frenzy, they believe that they are now in full control. If things seem to be turning against them there is little doubt that there will be trouble. This would be just the excuse the marxists have been waiting for, they will exploit it.

Ya. After Obama cancels the election he expects a little unrest.

I should have said after he tries to cancel the elections.

IOW, if Obamacare and the repetitive cash givaways in Porkulus don’t evoke determined opposition, Obama will continue to act grossly irresponsibly until he can provoke physical action against the government. What they don’t understand is that the people still believe in a government by the people and haven’t intuitively across the board grasped that Obama is not a product of the people, but perhaps closer to Satanic influence.

“Yes, it was the NG. I have no knowledge of their training, though. Those were horrible times. I hope it doesn’t come to that again but I fear it will.”

I was in college when Kent State occurred; a Vietnam Vet going on the GI Bill, along with working the night shift at a local truck stop (that's another story for another time). But, back on subject, the NG of the Vietnam era was not the same as the NG of this era. Today's NG and Reserve units are highly trained and motivated and are carrying their fair share of the load in Iraq and Afghanistan. A far different situation from the NG and Reserve units of the Viet era. In those days, these units were refuges for those lucky enough or who's parents or employers had enough influence to get them in so to avoid being drafted. Training was minimal and summer camps were primarily male beer drinking and poker playing campouts. Also, the dynamics were different; Vietnam cast cultural conservatives against young counter cultural liberals which were primarily driven and influenced by socialists, communists, and annarchists. The young were what's known in the left's lexicon as "useful idiots". Today, it's somewhat the same dynamic except today's conservatives are willing to stand up and be seen and heard (Tea Party)? Also, today's military is very conservative and is polically aligned with the right as their parents, siblings, etc. Obama and his goons are aware of this hence his statement "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” Obama, Pelosi, Reid and their kind are aware that it is problamatic whether U.S. troops will take aggressive action against civilians. So, he eventually will have his own para-military force to deal with whatever is deemed as civilian disobiedence or unrest. Keep an eye on the upcoming 16,000 IRS hires - if these new hires are typical financial types or bean counters it's one thing but if many of them are more of the SWAT or Special Op's type, then we may have an inkling as to how his Civilian National Security Force will come to be. Hold on tight, it's coming...

OK..then lets get to the point. Many of you here have sons or daughters in the military. Ask them point blank if this was to happen, would they shoot American citizens?

-- Would American soldiers fire on their own citizens for Obama? --

Not "for Obama" per se, but yes otherwise. Of course they would.

I don't know if federal troops were involved in any of the efforts to disarm the law-abiding residents of Louisiana in the Katrina recovery effort.

-- Would other military units defend citzens being attacked by special government units? --

No. Some individuals in the military may shed the uniform (go AWOL) and switch sides, but there will not be uniform v. uniform action.

Civilians should give the military the same amount of trust ATF, FBI, IRS, and other assorted federal agencies have earned. The degree of trust should not be adjusted up or down depending on who occupies the White House.

-- Posse comitatus, anyone? Under most circumstances, the President cannot use the U.S. military as a civilian police force. --

Bush requested and obtained revisions to that section of law. The feds now have the power to insert themselves without a request from a governor. IOW, the feds decide what constitutes emergency, and the feds self-declare the circumstances as warranting the use of federal military troops to handle the situation.

This is not very new. These types of operations have been set up and planned for for years. There has always been a plan for handling the after effects of a nuclear strike as well as biological attack. At least a portion of the population would be expected to do stupid things in a situation like that. Other than those types of attack situations I don’t for an instant believe that American troops would turn citizens. They all, officers and enlisted troops, swear an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, not the president and they know that they are not bound to act on unlawful presidential orders. Give the American serviceman at least a little credit for having some brains; they are not mind-numbed robots.

For all his other faults Bush did that in part because of the fiasco in New Orleans where the governor refused to let federal assistance that was mobilized and ready to come in to help until she knew it could be blamed on Bush. FEMA and the administration did the right things to try alleviate the problems but they screwed up by accepting blame for FEMA who did nothing wrong.

Never let a crisis go to waste.

The revision was also justified on the basis that the state authorities may be rendered incapable (dead or incommunicado) by the event that requires intervention of military force.

There's a link in a post just above, on the history up to the present on the power and effect of the posse comitatus statutes. The link describes the use of military to guard the Atlanta Olympics. In general, the feds will "do what they have to do" in order to obtain order and themselves.

I have friends that are officers or former officers in the military, and unanamously, they have told me that if they ordered their 17, 18, 19 yr. old troops to fire, they would do it. The troops are trained to follow orders.

I agree with you. When faced by a hostile, angry and potentially armed crowd. The calm voice of command will be followed. And critical thinking goes out the window. It becomes a “US vs THEM” scenario, and our troops are taught to win.

Dangerous, dangerous times are coming and I feel that our current government is itching to pull the trigger.

Covered badges means nothing. With all of the camcorder, cell phone video, etc. There will be evidence that will rage in court for decades.

A few nut jobs would kill Americans, but they would be shot by their fellow troops. It won't happen.

They wouldn’t, I think, fire on their neighbors, relatives, friends.

But, how are the individual units within the force constituted? Because a group of good ol' boys might not hestiate to fire on citified strangers in another region; just as ghetto guys may not hesitate to fire on country folk. In each case they would not consider the targets "neighbors, relatives, friends".

If you have anyone inside this group-in-training, we need as much intel as possible. Of 80,000 or so there have to be a few FReeper relatives or friends among them (unless they've been carefully vetted out, but I don't think the military is THAT efficient).

No way in hell.

Practically every one of those soldiers has a mom, dad, brothers and sisters. And every one has sworn allegience to the Constitution.
