Our betters in the blogosphere and mainstream media have spent the afternoon tut-tutting those of us who suspect a political angle to the savage attack on Republican Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal's chief fundraiser Allee Bautsch and her boyfriend Joe Brown last Friday night after a fundraising dinner in New Orleans.
The Hayride, for those who haven't noticed, has not retracted their report that the couple was attacked for wearing Sarah Palin pins, even though a spokesman for Gov. Jindal has put out e-mails to select reporters and bloggers saying they were not wearing Palin pins.
This evening, the New Orleans Police Department released a statement pleading with the public for information about the attack. The description by the police of the incident does not describe a robbery, but it also does not say what exactly precipitated the attack, nor does it report a motive.
The statement does describe the attackers as a group of "Caucasian" men, one of whom was described as "dirty" and wearing a beard and ponytail.
That describes a typical leftwing protester of the type that were hanging outside the Republican fundraiser taunting attendees.
Here is the Police statement in full, courtesy of WWL-AM 870:
Superintendent Warren J. Riley and members of the New Orleans Police are asking the publics assistance in locating and identifying several suspects wanted in connection with an incident that occurred in the 600 block of Saint Louis Street . The incident occurred Friday April 9, 2010, at approximately 10:45 P.M.
According to investigators, the victims were walking from a function at a restaurant in the 400 block of Royal Street . When they entered the 600 block of Saint Louis Street , three to five Caucasian males made derogatory comments to the 25-year-old female and her 28-year-old male friend. When the male victim turned towards the group of men, one or more of the suspects struck the victim several times. At some point the female victim fell to the ground and screamed. The suspects then fled on foot. Officers in the area heard the female screaming and responded to the scene and broadcasted a description of the suspects and requested Emergency Medical Paramedics. As the female was waiting for EMS , she used her purse as a pillow. When the victim was in the ambulance, she discovered her purse was missing.
The female was transported to a hospital where she was treated for a broken leg. The male victim was also transported to the hospital and was treated for a mild concussion, fractured jaw and nose.
One of the suspects was described as a Caucasian male who appeared to be dirty, in his 20s, 61 tall, thin build with a thin face. He had a beard and auburn color hair in a pony tail. He was wearing a light color T shirt and dark color pants.
The incident is on-going and detectives are in the process of determining if any surveillance cameras captured the incident.
Investigators are currently working on the incident and at this time the report is not available. Notification will be made to the media when the report is complete and ready for dissemination.
Investigators are in the process of identifying the suspects, as well as a motive. Eighth District Detective Sergeant Nicholas Gernon is in charge of the investigation. Citizens with information that can help solve this crime are asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 822-1111, toll-free 1-877-903-STOP(7867). You could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500.00 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the responsible person(s). You do not have to give your name nor testify to receive the reward.
BTW, Media Matters can kiss me on both cheeks for attacking Gateway Pundit and Free Republic for our reporting on the brutal attack. (Title: When Gateway Pundit quotes Free Republic, you know the truth is going to lose)

I agree hate crime laws should not exist. They are an institution of the left. The only way to change them is to get significant legislative control. That will not occur as long as we’re being beaten up in street fights by the left and their laws. Sometimes you have to get down and dirty in the trenches before you can climb out and sweep up.
But yeah, I know, turn the other cheek and all that bull$hit, we’re better than they are, let’s be martyrs forever, winning isn’t important - your kids will understand - or they’ll wonder why in hell you, as their parent, didn’t do something about this nonsense when there was still a chance at success. Yada yada yada. I’ve heard your BS argument a thousand times on a hundred subjects. You can do what it takes to win so that these things can be corrected, or you can continue to lose and these things will get worse and more entrenched. You can fight for sunshine tomorrow or you can sit there beating your chest about your purity and humility and deal with rain forever.
My husband and I will go down fighting if we have to. But you can sit there in your self-righteousness and stroke your own ego for sticking to your principles while everything deteriorates around you and your kids. Your argument is the same as that of those who want Gitmo closed - detaining people without trial is beneath our standards, and it matters not if we let them out so they can blow us to hell. Don’t take up the legal bludgeons used against whites no matter how one-sided and detrimental they are to whites because hate crime laws are objectionable on their face. There’s no difference between the two arguments in terms of the principle vs. the damage done.
Please, get real.
If you don't stand on your principles, then you have none.

Who taught you to discuss and debate, Paul Begala ... maybe James Carville??? Sheesh woman, I write that if something is wrong, it is wrong, and all of a sudden I'm getting lectured about purity and Gitmo.
Have a nice day, newbie.
As usual, nothing in the local news. All my updates keep coming from here.
Local news just had a snippet that mentioned the same report that was earlier describing the attacker and report info. No new developments.
It was reported by Fox today that her leg was broken in five places. She was mauled by her attacker and could have been killed!
It was her leg that was broken as reported by Fox. It was broken in five places.
Your post is a keeper. It is a view into the true mindset of the left. Their war against Capitalism is the same war being persued by the Obama Regime. If they accomplish their objective, they will impoverish mankind around the globe.
These Marxists have a mental malfunction that would take someone in a different pay grade to explain. Why these fools want to bite the hand (Capitalism) that feeds them is beyond my ability to reason.
Villere opined that what started out as a peaceful protest was infiltrated by professional agitators who were in New Orleans to protest the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC) that was held last weekend.
I emphasized the words "professional agitators." Were that SEIU people? Were they recruited by the Democrat Party? Did they stir up the crowd to inspire the idiot to brutally beat up participants?

FYI, I am Walter Abbott. And also FReeper “abb.” I did the interview with Mr. Villere. I served on the Louisiana GOP State Central Committee with him about 12 years ago.
We discussed what term to use - “professional agitators” was his choice of words to differentiate them from the local university types (University of New Orleans, etc.).
His opinion was that it was people who traveled to New Orleans specifically to protest the SRLC event.
Only mentioned 'by saving Grace' it was not her head.
Well, chemicalman, it pained me but see why I suggested we send that photo of the guy to the hospital and *not* NOPD?
The 8th district police station is in the next block or two, right? This reporter has the crime and courts beat for the TP, youd think she might be a little more suspect of NOPD with all of her coverage so far. Tis not a good time for the force these days. 16 more days of Nagin and his Chief.

Jindal made tough ethics laws for La. after he became governor, and I like to see him put more pressure of these laws on N.O. since this incident if there's any cover-up by NOPD.
Hubris, all around.
Oh, and one last thing, NOPD never released a SKETCH of the perps.
