AZ-Sen. 2010: J.D. Hayworth Calls on John McCain to Oppose Possible Hillary Appt. to Supreme Court
J.D. Hayworth 2010 ^ | 2010-04-13

Phoenix, AZ (April 13) – Following yesterday’s shocking admission by former McCain advisor Mark McKinnon that John McCain would vote to confirm Hillary Clinton to the U.S. Supreme Court, J.D. Hayworth said “it’s time to bring John home.”

“Any senator willing to even consider giving Hillary Clinton a life-time position to this land’s highest court is clearly out of touch with Arizona and the rest of the nation for that matter,” he said.

Hayworth said her record is so far left that she should not even be on a short-list for consideration.

“From Whitewater, to HillaryCare Round One to ObamaCare Round Two to the latest foreign policy disasters such as our nation’s newest non-nuclear protection position and our ever-weakening status in the eyes of the world, she has been an embarrassment,” he said.

During an appearance on CNN last night, McKinnon told Campbell Brown “the guy who would have a really tough position would be John McCain who’s down there in a tough re-election battle, but he really likes Hillary and I know he’d want to vote for her.

Hayworth observed that “Given John McCain’s track record as part of the infamous Gang of 14, his votes to confirm committed liberal activists like Eric Holder as Attorney General, and his insatiable need for affirmation from media outlets like the New York Times, we need to hold his feet to the fire.

“We are lucky that this vote is happening during an election year,” Hayworth said. ‘Those are the brief periods when John wakes up and listens to his constituents. But we still need to keep the pressure on him to do what is right, because while his campaign advisors are going to be telling him to vote like a conservative for a few more months, the honest appraisal from his former campaign confidant reveals a great deal about how John McCain would vote if he thought nobody was watching.”

“That internet ad by McCain was devastating, because the narrative shows JD as an unhinged kook.”

and Sarah supporting McCain doesn’t help either. When does country come before “decorum” and loyalty to a progressive? We are about to be “decorumed” into a socialist oligarchy cesspool.

LOL! Did McCain really call someone ELSE an unhinged kook? We have enough video of the unhinged McCain to last an entire election season. The bottom line is people are much, much smarter now and there’s so much on the line.

You don’t even live here in AZ, so what the hell are you talking about. He IS speaking our language, from immigration to health care.

Way to rebut EEE's statement. Oh wait....you didn't.

BTW EEE, McCain has a 7% lead over Hayworth according to Rasmussen. After the Palin endorsement it was 53-31 or thereabouts but has since closed somewhat.

I agree that at some point EEE is going to have to start providing some substance or he'll end up polling in the high 30s percentage-wise in the primary.

J.D.’s right, but he must be smoking some of them left handed cigarettes to think McKennedy is going to do anything but swoon over hitlery.

I. 6. No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.

Hillary was elected for the term of Jan 2007 - Jan 2013. Now I believe that the salary of Secretary of State was reduced so she could get the job, and that a position on SCOTUS would have to be similarly reduced.

Of course that would leave us with the difficult situation of having one associate justice at a lower pay grade than the others.

Much was made about the legislative calendar and the confirmation? calendar during the "nuclear" option discussion. Appointments can never be anything other than "Shall Person X be confirmed to the office of Y?"

But additional amendments can always be offered on bills, with arguments for and against. That is the purpose of the filibuster.

As I recall, Hatch's name was floated after the Bork rejection because as a Senator he would likely receive courtesy that another court nominee would not.

What I'm asking is, when legislation to reduce the pay of a federal judgeship is considered, is that voted on before the confirmation? I would think it would have to be. That vote could be filibustered; thus Senatorial courtesy (if it still exists) could be preserved but Hillary would still be denied the seat.

Whether that's a good strategy (others are more liberal than Hillary) is another story.

I disagree. The point is valid. McCain would vote for Hillary if nominated. Whether she is nominated or not, the fact that McCain would vote for her speaks to his serious drift away from Conservative principles.

The Chinese are in the process of owning us. It’s only fair they get a representative on the court.

JD is doing the right thing by going after McCain.

Contrary to what some have posted....JD has to be strong on attack on McCain. You do not win elections by being a nice guy...never works.

Being weak in campaigns....well, it got the USA Obama....

Dear Hildy,

The reason "why" it matters is because McNasty does not confine his votes to just the State of Arizona. The rest of us bubbas have to live with his wacky voting record.

That's "why" it matters. Regards, pointsal
