A new CNN/Opinion Research poll tests some 2012 general election matchups for the first time, and finds that President Obama leads four potential foes: Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee.
2012 Presidential General Election Matchup (907 RVs, 4/9-11, MoE +/- 3.5%) Obama 53 -- Romney 45 Obama 54 -- Huckabee 45 Obama 55 -- Palin 42 Obama 55 -- Gingrich 43

that is true a lot can change in a short period of time and 2012 is still a long way off but i just dont like to see anything resembling hope for team Obama
I agree. They did the same thing in the 2008 election with McLame.
“Anyone would be better than Obozo.”
agreed
Your mistake here is taking anything put out by CNN as “credible news”.
I’m surprised BO is only getting 55% against a few people (all of whom have either been villified or softly suggested by the MSM) and none have even announced they are running for POTUS.
We need a bigger boat!
Bottom line as I see it:
1) Probably a bogus poll. Show me the questions and the actual data with the crosstabs and I can slice and dice it pretty much any way you want.
2) Obama’s approval is below 50% which is the kiss of death forany politician. Not necessarily a forgone conclusion, but any candidate below 50% is considered in trouble.
3) All Republicans are with the MOE, so it actually tells very little. Show me a few polls with the same questions over a period of time, not some goofy flash poll, then we’ll talk.
C’mon people, 2012 is two-and-a-half years away. Most of the contenders for the GOP nod in 2012 will likely not even be people considered frontrunners today. Let’s focus on THIS NOVEMBER.
well it is a CNN poll so you are probably right about it being bogus to one degree or another
Agree; BS all the way.
This just in: ABCNNBCBS Poll shows Obama’s ratings are off the charts!..............
CNN, 2 years away, BS, moving on.
Why is this shocking to anyone? Sure, Obamarx is a moron and people don’t want to vote for him but the GOP choices are:
Romney - passed Obamacare v 1.0 and couldn’t beat McCain
Huckabee - Really? Seriously?
Gingrich - brilliant guy but is the disgraced/polarizing former Speaker
Palin - best conservative of the bunch but a lot of people have an unfavorable opinion of her.
Obamarx loses in “concept” to an “unnamed Republican” but beats all “real” Republicans that are named as front-runners. Huck, Romney nor Gingrich has a chance of winning. Palin will have to go through a huge metamorphosis with the public to have a chance. The best bet is someone like Paul Ryan or Marco Rubio.
No way a radical/socialist who is outed and doesn’t listen to the voice of the people gets a second term.
Republicans have to run the mother of all turkeys to lose this IMO.
Bullshit times 1 trillion!!!!!
This poll isn’t worth diddly.
There is only one person of the group running for the office at this early stage - Obama
yes i agree someone new should be the nominee and none of these also-rans
that being said i saw a poll a few months back that had Romney even with Obama and Palin within strking distance
not sure who the polling firm was though
Troll poll !
I call major BS on this poll.
