NJ school cancels cross-dressing fashion show after complaints

A school superintendent in New Jersey said a "misunderstanding" led an elementary school teacher to mandate that all students -- including young boys -- dress as women in a now-canceled fashion show to honor Women's History Month, FOXNews.com reported Tuesday.
"I wish the letter had been clearer and had been worded differently," Maple Shade Township School Superintendent Michael Livengood told FoxNews.com, referring to a letter sent home to the children's parents last week informing them of the assignment. "But it was a misunderstanding. It was meant to demonstrate students' awareness in women's roles, and along with that, their changes in fashion over time."
In a 16-page packet sent home with students of Maude Wilkins Elementary School, teacher Tonya Uibel alerted parents that all students in her third grade class would have to participate in the activity, which had been scheduled for Friday, since it would be graded as an "end of unit" assignment.
"If your child is a young man, he does not have to wear a dress or skirt, as there are many time periods where women wore jeans, pants and trousers," Uibel wrote. "However, each child must be able to express what time period their outfit is from. Most of all, your child should have fun creating their outfit and learning about how women's clothing has changed!"

Followup...
Its a big grade being an “end of unit” assignment and they sent a 16 page booklet. This was no misunderstanding.
Next time they will be careful not to let the parents know whats going on.
. . . and brought up on charges.
Agreed. The highest ranking official who knew about this and did not stop it should be fired. Teacher? Principle? Superintendant? Generally speaking, teachers can't do something like this in a vacuum.
.
BUMP!
Next time the dresses will be at the school & be donated by some gay group or designer.
Something like that.
Soon each kindergarten classroom will have special GLBT resources.
Mea Culpa. I posted on an earlier thread that this sounded like a hoax. I thought some things were too idiotic for the public schools. How blissfully naive I was...
Maine Commission Moves to Ban Gender Specific Bathrooms, Sports Teams in Schools (Fox News ^ | April 9, 2010 | Diane Macedo)
The little girls' room won't be just for little girls anymore, if the Maine Human Rights Commission has its way.The commission is taking heat over a controversial proposal to ban schools from enforcing gender divisions in sports teams, school organizations, bathrooms and locker rooms. It says forcing a student into a particular room or group because of his or her biological gender amounts to discrimination.
The issue came to light last year when the commission ruled that, under the Maine Human Rights Act, a school had discriminated against a 12-year-old transgender boy by denying him access to the girls' bathroom.
What could possibly go wrong?
Please don’t overestimate them again :)
And we’re supposed to pretend that the people who proposed this idea aren’t Perverts?
You know they are. The leadership and faculty of this school Wanted to see little boys dressed up like little girls and the female faculty wanted to see little girls dressed up like bull lesbians.
My kids would be out of that school just for proposing such a thing.
Homos don’t know or won’t admit that their behavior is abnormal.
For the school to propose this with a straight face and for them to think it is perfectly normal even enlightened exposes them as the deviants and freak they truly are.
When did “fashion” replace the “three Rs”?
(satire)
In other news, due to the canceled fashion show, School Administrators have decided to fill-in the time segment by showing FILMS to the students in the gymnasium.
First Hour: “The Joy of Fisting”
Second Hour: “How to set up Video SEXTING” (free APPS for download school website, after the films)
GSLEN was involved in this as well. A gay fashion show featuring cross-dressing 8 and 9 year olds. Videotaped, no less. The girls are of no interest. Its the boys they want.
I would not doubt it.
