Rumored celebrity endorsement in MD US Senate campaign

Celebrity actor, Jon Voight, is supposedly supporting Corrogan Vaughn in his campaign for US Senate against Barbara Mikulski in Maryland.

According to the campaign website: "Vaughn talked with celebrity actor Jon Voight at the [March 20th Health Care Code Red] rally. The two met once before at a hospital where Vaughn was undergoing treatment for a brain tumor. Voight recognized Vaughn and was struck by Vaughn's resolve in battling back from the brain tumor and overcoming, without a government handout, the $250,000 in hospital bills that resulted from the surgery. Voight offered to help Vaughn significantly in his campaign."

The website goes on to state that there are "more details to come" about the meeting.

There are reports that Jon Voight may throw his full star power behind Vaughn by holding a campaign fundraiser in Baltimore in the near future. Considering Vaughn is an underdog among a large pool of candidates in the GOP primary, Voight's star power endorsement would likely place Vaughn as the front runner in the battle to unseat Barbara Mikulski in November. None of the GOP candidates in the race have much name-recognition as of yet, but among all the Scott Brown hopefuls, Vaughn would appear to be in the best position to win wide support in the general election; a Jon Voight endorsement in the primary may guarantee his chance to do just that.

You’re right, not much hope for MD this election other than Bob Ehrlich... I’m curious to see how race will factor into the Senate race though, a black tea party activist running for senate sounds like something that could catch some attention.

I’ve met Corrogan at several Tea Parties and he was at Walter Reed the Friday night before the big 9-12 Tea Party last year. He seemed soft spoken at that time but I think he was feeling out attitudes towards him. You know, with him being a black man being associated with that “racist” Tea Party organization.

Bottom line, I would vote for him.

And Corrogan is also backed by TrueBlackMan.

If Arlen Specter can come back from Hodgkin's lymphoma and still make a big ol' mess in the Senate, why not give this guy a chance to get it right?
