After Tea Party Report (Fresno)
Channel 47 TV, Fresno ^ | April 10, 2010 | Tony Botti

Posted on 04/11/2010 9:31:09 PM PDT by Saundra Duffy

Frustrated with our government, 4,000 people joined together at Chukchansi Park in downtown Fresno to say enough is enough.

"The biggest problem by far is the federal government is too powerful in our lives. They're bossing us around, telling us what we can and can't do. This country was never setup to be like that," said Steve Brandau of the Central Valley Tea Party.

"I'm just disgusted with what's happening to our country. Overspending, overtaxing, it's becoming a socialist country," said Saundra Hawkins.

Republican Steve Poizner, who is running for governor, believes he's on the same page as everyone who was in the stands.

"We need to get back to the basics. Individual liberty, personal responsibility, smaller government, lower taxes. That's how we can get this great state back on track," said Poizner.

Republican Damon Dunn wants to be the next Secretary of State.

"What we need in America and California today are strong principaled leaders," Dunn told the crowd.

Dunn says we don't need anymore ideas, just people who can execute them.

"We need someone who understands how to think strategically, that can lead 360 degrees. Leading down, leading laterally, build coalitions and then lead up. People that will be there well after you're gone. I feel I'm that kind of leader," said Dunn.

The main purpose of the event was not to be a political platform for candidates to capture votes. However, many enjoyed the opportunity of hearing their messages delivered uncut and in person.

"I've already heard some speeches that have changed my opinion about some of the candidates," said Hawkins.

“We need someone who understands how to think strategically, that can lead 360 degrees.”

Won’t 360 degrees bring us right back to where we are now? We need a 180 degree-type person. Please, someone tell Dunn. I think Maxine Waters made the original 360 degree comment once.

Here are a few photos of the crowd. Because the stadium is so large, it makes it appear that the crowd was sparse. There was also a huge throng of people on the concourse where the booths were set up. I am proud of each and every person who came and took a stand for our three core Tea Party principles: Limited Government, Free Markets, and Fiscal Responsibility!

Last, but not least, the Central Valley's fabulous Congressman and our friend, who daily takes on the liberal political machine in the belly of the beast, fighting hard for conservative principles and the best interest of his constituents, Devin Nunes.

Any "plants" or "trouble makers"?

Not a one, that I saw. Just good, honest, hard-working Americans who are demanding limited government, free markets, fiscal responsibility, and a return to the principles upon which our country was founded. MY kind of people!

Good. They (the enemy) are planning things you know. Glad they did not show up in Fresno, or perhaps they were there, but just kept their mouths shut because they and their scheming antics to slander the TP movement, have been exposed nationwide over the last 36 hours.
