Anyone remember that almost-totally-forgettable movie with Kevin Kline called Dave, where Kline’s character is a doppleganger for the president, and stands in for the president at press-meetings and whatnot so the president can have liasons with his mistress(es)? Obastard’s behaviour sounds sorta fishy in that context.

It is a sideline classic! And the scene where he and Sigourney Weaver ditch the SS and go for burgers is hilarious!
The idea he is a “wonderful guy” and “has real ethics” was a bit hackneyed, but it had real heart.
