Rand’s opponent’s bad week
Rand Paul For Senate 2010

Rand Pauls establishment opponent has had a very rough last few days. It started with the revelation that the opponent gained an inordinate amount of his recent fundraising success in the pockets of the same people who helped AIG drain billions of taxpayer dollars in the infamous bailouts. It continued Monday when the opponent admitted that he isnt really serious when he says he wants to cut wasteful spending.
To top it off, the opponent told his friends at the New York Times that Mr. Grayson argues that some of Dr. Pauls ideas (getting rid of the Departments of Energy, Education and Commerce) are too weird for Kentucky.
Rand Paul opposes bailouts and refuses to accept campaign contributions from the lobbyists who created the problem. Rand has proposed a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution and he opposes earmark spending. And Rand supports eliminating government agencies that do damage to the Constitution and to Americas bottom line. These are very clear differences that matter between the candidates in Kentuckys Republican primary. Election Day is May 18.

If Rand Paul is the nominee, he has my support. How will he hold up in the general election? He’s not a conventional candidate and there’s no telling how the public will react to someone so outside the box.

I’ve often wondered about Rand Paul’s first name. Did Ron Paul name him after Ayn Rand?

Rand is a nickname. His name is actually Randall.

Are you kidding me? Everybody is tee'd off at Washington and establishment hack politicians like Grayson.
Your idea of a "conventional" candidate is your typical milquetoast Republican who'll promise the usual BS of targeted tax credits and pay lip service to conservatism, while promising to "work" with Obama and "our Democrat friends."
Grayson doesn't stand a chance.

Rand Paul is the best candidate. If Republicans think cutting gov is too weird then I think electing them is too weird.

So, was his name shortened to indicate an affinity for Ayn Rand? Or is it just a coincidence. The normal foreshortening of that name would be Randy.

I dated a guy named Randall for a few years in my early 20s. He went by “Randy” and “Rand.”. His family tended to call him “Rand.”

I don’t hate Ru Paul (or his kid). I just think he is a clown.
As far as the progeny goes — the nut doesn’t fall very fall from the nut.
