If this is actually an echo of what the republican party really wants then it also wants to become the modern version of the Whig party.

2006 SRLC Straw Poll results.

http://www.nationaljournal.com/srlc/
John McCain, who came in only 5th (behind even Bush who couldn't run in 2008), with just 4.6% of the SRLC vote, ended up winning the GOP primaries, and his strongest opposition in the primaries came from Mike Huckabee who came in 6th with only 3.8% of the SRLC vote. George Allen, who came in third at SRLC, couldn't even win re-election for his US Senate seat.

Where did they take that vote? Was it the Rino enclosure at the wild animal park?

I would vote for Mitt Romney, this country is longing for someone to make sense of the chaotic financial mess we are in,and Romney could do that.

By one stupid straw. Basically was even with Paul. Hope these aren’t the only people who are going to throw their hats into the ring, but this little shindig was b***s***.

The GOP chooses their presidential candidates based on seniority. It's Mitts turn...

Goes to show you how ‘out of touch’ these folks are from the rest of the country.

People mistakenly believe that because Mitt is an investment banker that he must therefore know something about economics.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Bankers — especially investment bankers — generally know NOTHING about economics; they are not in a position to “save” the U.S. economy from decline.

Mitt brought socialized medicine to Massachusetts. Does anyone really believe that he would work to repeal zerocare nationally?

The MSM and the Democrats would love to see the Republicans nominate Romney. They will do everything they can to make it happen, simply because they know full well, he doesn’t have a chance in the world of getting elected.

Romney won only because he paid delegates and gave them free trips to show up and vote for them.

It means absolutely nothing. Romney is Obamacare. The GOP can’t run Romney and be against Obamacare. And Romney can’t will never take any but the most liberal states and Utah. He can’t win the Republican nomination, much less beat Obama.

Its easy when you buy up most of the tickets and hand them out for free under the condition that free ticket means you will vote Romeny. (Yea, Paul does the same thing).

Memo to Mitt: after buying the straw poll vote, stop saying you haven't decided whether you're running for the nomination. Sheeesh.

Very bad news; again all the dumb Republican primary voters know to do is rubberstamp the convention loser from last time.
