I always hate to point the finger and make the accusation, but I don't think in this case there is even a need to do it. Some certain southerners (not even most or all) are probably not as comfortable with the idea of putting a woman in the Presidential seat, and that group of stubborn patriarchs is probably more politically active as this group proved to be. How else could Ron Paul beat out Palin in this irrelevant straw poll?
Ironically, Romney is their first choice, when Sarah Palin is far more conservative than Romney. So, maybe it isn't about who is going to best represent conservative values, but about who they think should and should not represent conservative values.
Put more bluntly, Romney is not a true conservative and Ron Paul is not even electable, but this straw poll does not accurately reflect the majority of conservatives any more than it counts the entire South as unwilling to cast votes for Sarah Palin.
You know that you're perverting the truth. And to say he's a neo-leftist is like saying Obama is moderate. Ron Paul is far to the right of any candidate out there and has actually lived out his principles - so much so that he's known as "Dr. No" by his fellow congressmen for voting with the constitution with all of the big government bills that so-called conservatives vote yes on.
But, like I said: he's probably not going to run. He'll be 77 by then and he's probably going to retire soon and go back to being an OB/GYN physician doing what he loves - delivering babies.

Because the point I was trying to make was in response to that part of what you posted, that is why I put ..... after "Paul" indicating that I left out context. It's as easy as a click to trace back to see what you had posted if the reader was interested.

Except, in the real world, Newt's DOA. What is missing from this vote entirely is the establishment picking another candidate so they have picked Newt as a not-Palin vote, like a bridge bid in a suit that means one thing and not that that suit is going to play at all.
Mostly, the establishment isn't going to commit to Sarah Palin until after the 2010 election if then. If they did, they would be anointing her the defacto leader of the entire Republican party. They are not ready for this just yet.
Yep. I have mixed feelings on Newt, but he is a great asset to our party in many ways. I just don’t want him as President. He trys to be too bi-partisan at times.

An outsider, or at least somebody that's only been corrupted by Washington for only a few months? Absolutely. That's why I'd punch the ticket for Palin if she was nominated. I'm tired of the established folks like Romney that just recently "turned conservative."

Newt can make everybody in the room look stupid, and he does it in a manner that is off-putting. He is a professor and it shows. Newt can’t attract a large following and that translates into campaign donations. I hope he enters the race. He’ll make all the other candidates work harder.

Do the math. Romney got 39 votes that weren’t bought. Paul bought votes for people who voted for others, so he really got NO votes. Palin won with 330 non-purchased votes and Gingrich has established himself as the establishment candidate who is next in line.
Except for when Ron Paul wins.
I am SHOCKED that “Evangelicals for Mitt” are up to dirty tricks.
